I've been looking for prog/black/doom/death or really any kind of metal that has the dark and ridiculously depressing aura of bands like Opeth, Daylight Dies, Ram-Zet, etc. Not just depressing or vaguely somber like Agaloch or Katatonia or the like, but so incredibly gloomy that it completely decimates all traces of joy and hope and optimism in it's wake, like the kind of music that would make a cheerleader hang herself with her own entrails.

How about Abruptum or Nortt? Especially Nortt, it kind of sounds like the soundtrack to your own funeral.

Someone mentioned Evoken, so I'd add Tyranny and Catcombs to that.
