I'm always looking for more of the earliest obscure black metal bands and black thrash bands, especially those of the "1st wave" who AREN'T from any of the Scandinavian countries, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any more?

I particularly love the Italian bands from the 80s like Schizo, Necrodeath, Mondocane, Ghostrider, Death SS, and also love the Brazilians like Sarcafago, Mutilator, Holocausto, Vulcano, Bulldozer, as well as the Czechs like Master's Hammer and of course Sadistik Exekution from Aus.

My favorite kind of sounds though are the bands who sound like Schizo, Necrodeath and also Sadistik Exekution.

Thanks

Are you familiar with Slaughter Lord? It seems something you could like, an amalgam of thrash/black/death straight outta '86 :)

I'd also recommend Setherial. If you want that oldschool blast feel then I recommend the 'Hell Eternal' album in particular.

Their album "Nord" is pretty good too.

Already knew about those guys a while ago, pretty good, any more super heavy Finnish bm bands? Aside from Sargeist and Behexen etc? Still want as many recommendations of old school super heavy bm bands as possible :)

I've really been enjoying contemporary Finnish bands like Havukruunu, Sarastus, Antimateria, Raate, Riivaus, Author, Paara, all of which are roughly in the 'melodic-but blasting' genre, as well as some outliers like Kalmankantaja (more ambient) and Wyrd (more melodic) as well as Goatmoon (which to my mind is a big influence on the first list of bands above, but is rawer, older, and NSBM unlike them). What Finnish bands with a similar sound am I sleeping on?

You guys into Svartsyn or what? I hadn't played "true" (IE: second wave) black metal in months but I dug out "...His Majesty" and it blew me away. I actually love it a lot more than I did when I originally bought it. It carries the same vibe as DMDS but with relentlessly killer riffing. Like DMDS with Fenriz and Nocturno Culto and Dagon all contributing riff ideas.

What's their next best album besides His Majesty? Everyone seems fairly agreeable as to that one being the best. For what it's worth I really love the claustrophobic production.

I like Svartsyn, I think he is one of the more talented and complete solo artists, looking forward to listening to the full new album. Timeless Reign, the split with Arckanum and the remake of The True Legend are all great.

^^I haven't listened to much Sarastus, Ratte or Paara, but the new Riivaus album is probably my favorite album so far this year. Author and Sielunvihollinen are also 2 of the better albums of this year IMO.

Riivaus is very good. The first Havukruunu, Sarastus' 'Tuolen Tuleminen', and Antimateria are probably my favorites out of that bunch.

Ok. So for the people that also enjoy the left-field black metal, such as Paysages, Darkspace etcetera:

Fucking LOVE ...His Majesty. One of my top BM albums of all time personally. Raw, aggressive, slightly off kilter, maniacal and blistering riffs!! Aaaaarrrrggggghhh!

Ahem.

The following album Destruction of Man gets repeated spins from me as well. Brilliant booming, raw production and still retains some of that crawling, suffocating aura, and certainly brings the fucking riffs. Wicked vocal work too, and the drumming is incredibly muscular and on point.

Archdemon of Binah (one of my favourite BM songs ever)

Destruction of Man

Anyone know any albums like Master's Hammer's last two? I really love those weird sound effects, the folkiness and the very particular riffing style, haven't heard anything like it.

Alghazanth is definitely in that "melodic but blasting" style i highly recommend them they are one of personal favorite black metal bands.

That song sounds like something that was on Satyricon's Nemesis Divina.

As people were kind to recommend various bands to me I have one to recommend to others too. Try 'Nordjevel', a very recent Norwegian Black Metal band, they only have one album out but just listened and it is pretty solid. According to their Facebook though I think they are releasing another album fall this year. Had all aspects of BM I like to hear anyway, plenty of Blast beats and some nice riffs/Melodies. Seem like a band with potential to succeed in the future of BM, not to mention helping keep the genre going! See what you think and let me know if you like them.

Hey dudes and dudettes, I'm looking for a specific black metal record/band. The band was totally NSBM, and all the songs had a metric shit ton of keyboards. I think they only had one album, but the one I'm specifically thinking about has was an eagle with a swastika on it. I know they're from the US and are a two-piece, but totally blanked out on the name.

Thanks for any help!

Definitely Fanisk.. the album you're thinking of is Noontide but they have 3 in total, all of them excellent.

So, I am looking for underground black metal. Think Knokkelklang, Skuggeheim, Vucub Cane, Min Kniv, etcetera.
A grim production, a kind of loneliness about the music, atmosphere but rawness. For a better reference, listen:

In general, it is very hard for me to receive recommendations here. Usually they get no replies. I know I'm a tough case, but hey.

I was more than willing to help you but I asked you numerous questions as I have hundreds of similar bands and wanted to get it right, and I just got sarcastic or deflected responses from you. I'm not going to invest my time if you're just gonna signpost me away and seem dis-interested.

There was no sarcasm. You asked me what kind of bands I am looking for, to which I answered that I explained that in the thread :)

It's not like Rotting Christ's "Dying" but it's a black metal love song:

Can you guys recommend me a band that sounds like Necromantia, in the sense of being black metal and having vampire lyrical themes, thanks!
