Sorry if it's already been posted before, but I've just recently been getting into black metal, and was introduced to Klabautamann's Der Ort, and I really enjoyed it. In particular the song "Der Ort", and "Forlorn Sea". The melody in "Forlorn Sea" seems really "pretty" to me, and gets stuck in my head. I'm not necessarily looking for full on acoustic black metal (I really like the meshing of the two done on the aforementioned album), but if it's similar enough to the acoustic parts of "Forlorn Sea", I would be interested (I really enjoy this song, if you couldn't tell).

Nachtmystium's "A Seed For Suffering" and Ulver's "Hymn 1: Of wolf and Fear" both have acoustic sections.

Relatively upbeat and acoustic is really hard to find, so I'll suggest bands who use acoustic touches within black metal music. :)

Falls of Rauros integrate acoustic folk touches into black metal. Very good band. Falls of Rauros - Revisitation.

Woods of Ypres are a melodic black metal band with acoustics and clean vocals on occasions.

Sombres Forêts are one of the best at using acoustics within black metal songs. Again, they're sparse, but affective. If you're going to listen to this band, you may as well try Gris as they also use sparse acoustics.

A long shot, but what about Dornenreich's latter material? Acoustics, violins.

Another outside shot and although not strictly black metal anymore, how about Alcest?

I saw this topic and IMMEDIATELY thought it was about Alcest. Check them out; definitely for beginners to BM who want a really beautiful experience.

EDIT: The related project "Amesoeurs" is good if you like post-punk. Listen to them if you liked Alcest.

You may like Skagos; some clean parts there. Also look into Fen, October Falls, Forest of Fog, and Falls of Rauros....

EDIT: Falls of Rauros already mentioned oops.

I forgot to also add Uraal- basically acoustic funeral doom. Awesome stuff.

Quite a few of the ones I was going to rec have already been said, but definitely second Drudkh (Autumn Aurora), Falls of Rauros, Gris, Wyrd and definitely Altar Shadows. Check out Altar Shadows' first album, Margi Sakalai, absolutely amazing. Onto the recs!

Hagal's Sterbender Traum is a fantastic album with a lot of great acoustic sections. The rest of the album is top-notch black metal too with a slight viking/pagan black metal sound to it too. Really should check this album out.

Helrunar also use quite a lot of acoustic passages

Inferi. Depressive-ish black metal that uses acoustics fairly sparingly. Shores of Sorrow is a quality album.

Imperium Dekadenz are a very good band who use nice, simple acoustics mixed in with fairly furious black metal. Dämmerung Der Szenarien is an excellent album.

Khors' Mysticism also uses acoustics every now and then. When I first listened to this album it didn't really grab me but it does grow on you. Rather cleanly produced 'black' metal, so it may be good for a beginner to start on.

You might also want to check out Mortifera's Vastiia Tenebrd Mortifera. Quite often has a lot of acoustic passages similar to Alcest (surprise surprise, Neige was in the band). Excellent album.

Really surprised no one's mentioned them yet, but fucking Peste Noire. Get their first full length, La Sanie Des Siécles - Panégyrique De La Dégénerescence, it's one of my absolute favourite albums and has some of the best acoustic work you'll find in black metal. This should be exactly what you're looking for, as the acoustic sections are often classically styled and extremely beautiful or 'pretty' as you put it. You should love the tracks Phalénes Et Pestilence - Salvatrice Averse and Dueil Angoisseus (Christine De Pisan, 1362-1431). Get this if you get anything.

Raventale's first album. Excellent black/doom metal with a lot of great acoustics.

And of course Ulver. You should love Bergtatt, brilliant album. Might want to check out Kveldssanger as well, although that's a purely acoustic album.

You should enjoy Temnozor's Folkstorm of the Azure Nights.

Shroud of Despondecy's Something of Nothing

It's beautiful, while also being epic! What could possibly be wrong with that?

A couple obvious ones: Ulver - Bergtatt
Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times

I also second the Peste Noire recommendation.

Heimdalls Wacht has some good ones, check out the first 5 minutes from the song "Threnos" on the split "Niewelkraien", one of my favorites for sure.

Lycanthropy's Spell has songs with short acoustic parts but also a few that are fully acoustic like "Midnight symphony" and "Lunar Reflections".

Eschatos from Poland also has some very nice acoustic parts in almost every song on their only release, but I doubt you can find the music without buying it, you can try though.

Fleurety: Min Tid Skal Komme

For example En Skikkelse I Horisonten stars with one and Hvileløs? ends with one. And the last song on the album Fragmenter Av En Fremtid is entirely acoustic.

Ancient - Svartalvheim (whole album)

undeservingly near-forgotten, often overlooked early BM work that makes my heart long for those great times of old.....

.never forget the old school-

Not black metal in particulary, but Agalloch.
