Hey.

I'm looking for 2 kinds of recs:

1) As usual, my thing these days is grind (or by some definitions they'd be other genres), bands who mix in multiple styles, as many as possible, especially black, death, Sludge, Crust, and at times some Noise, Power Violence, Power Electronics, Industrial and even melodic death.

Most of all I am into the black-grind and black-sludge genres but I wonder if there could be many more out there as I've exhausted the search pretty completely with all the following bands who are the types I am looking for:

Dragged Into Sunlight, Lord Mantis, Anaal Nathrakh, Suicide Pandemic, Absvrdist, Male Misandria, Malveillance, Chronocide, Sloth Herder and just SOOO many more, but also love Column of Heaven, The Endless Blockade, etc.

I am also digging the black-industrial type stuff that often colloborate with bands like Dragged Into Sunlight like Gnaw Their Tongues, The Axis of Perdition and recently Terra Tenebrosa.

So does anyone have any more recs like those?

2) I am always continuing to get more into the history of grindcore and the earliest grind bands and recently got into Unseen Terror and Nuclear Death and have been into bands like Extreme Noise Terror, Impetigo, General Surgery, Terrorizer and all those for a while now.

So can anyone point me towards any early seminal grind bands or super heavy crust/power violence bands as well that influenced grind that might be good? I'm generally talking stuff released in the 80s or if it were the 90s it would have to be the VERY early 90s.

Thanks

Plague Widow, Iskra, Nesseria and Cara Neir may appeal if you ain't already heard them.

The following are a bit more off topic but may still be of interest:
Circle of Dead Children though they generally lack the blackened influence they mix a wide variety of genres and kick ass.

and if you fancy a laugh Teen Cthulhu - Ride the Blade (symphonic black metal meets pv, kinda Emperor meets Spazz)

I havn't yet to listen to it fully. But my thought was this mix a lot of stuff... most of the are among styles you listed so it's quite for you.

Are there any deathgrind bands like Cattle Decaptation? I'd like to hear an album similar to The Harvest Floor.

Monument of Misanthropy: Deathgrind/bdm with lyrics about animal rights, general disdain for humankind & whatnot.

Edit: Sorry dude misquoted the name of the band. Here's what I'm talking about:

Atavistic were fairly prominent on the early UK scene, and are worthy of a blast. Their 2 EPs are chaotic crust/grind, they later released an LP in 1990 which was slightly more Thrash orientated.

Checkout Eaten-s/t for some killer metallic grind. Just wish the vocals were a bit higher in the mix.

Two awesome grind bands I saw out in the midwest:

Deterioration
https://deterioration.bandcamp.com/album/split-w-cystoblastosis
Absolutely brutal grindcore from Minnesota. If you call yourself a fan of grind you owe it to yourself to get some of their tapes. Completely insane drummer, one of the best out there for this kind of thing.

Sulfuric Cautery
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Maru8iKVrvA (Warning: Very gory album artwork, NSFW)
Probably the other most brutal grindcore band out of the midwest. Extremely fast goregrind. Another insane drummer in this band, dude completely annihilates his drum kit. If they ever come around your town go see them live.

Any suggestions for deathgrind similar to latter day Cattle Decapitation? More specifically bands with the "clean" vocals (or as I call them, melodic shrieks) used in songs like Your Disposal.

Not deathgrind per se but Anaal Nathrakh are great at balancing that epic chorus/blasting chaos dynamic.

I too would like to hear something in that vein. Any takers?

I heartily recommend you all to listen to Entety (USA). Rather brutal goregrind with a large helping of proto-BDM in it. Atmosphere's like a graveyard, but headbangable as fuck.

I listen to tons of metal genres especially death metal and i cannot for the life of me get into grindcore. I truly love the names and ideas and bands so i force myself to listen but cannot get passed the music if that makes sense. I dont sit there like "ah oh my god when will this end"; i do enjoy moments but not like a sudden burst into headbanging thinking holy shit i love this. However i really do enjoy napalm's newer albums. On older albums specificaly scum, it sounds like trash. I can barely make out instruments and im not sure if the vocals are yelled or hes trying to scream on studio because i saw a documentary of an older napalm lineup performing live and idk if that was the same singer from scum but my god he sounded like a giant troll roaring in anger. To my surprise though i hear how people love scum and earlier grind works. I believe i am not listening to it right and i dont know what to listen for, what sounds and techniques make grind, grind. My question is, what sounds, techniques, riffs, grooves etc should i be listening to. I an not a musician but i do have a faint understanding of metal instrumentals and music theory. What appeals about grind? What do you guys like about grind.

I had a frustrating experience with grindcore for the longest time with a few exceptions like Cattle Decapitation, Anaal Nathrakh, Benighted, Cephalic Carnage etc. Try the more 'metal' end of the spectrum, it certainly worked for me. Now the reason I enjoy it is that it's got the energy of hardcore punk & the brutality of death metal in a condensed form. Just riff after chunky riff, relentless blastbeats & frantic vocals (the likes of which I haven't found in most death metal, well except Cryptopsy). I think that alot of death metal is rooted in unconventional songwriting, tempo changes & subtle riff development. In grind there is no time for that. It just goes in hard & fast as fuck & is over before you know it. So basically treat it like brutal hc punk tunes.

Apart from the bands mentioned try the new Wormrot album it's a bit melodic & quasi-prog than the usual fare. Stuff like Nasum, King Parrot, The Kill, Pig Destroyer is also good for easing into the genre. If you're diving straight into the raw shit you're gonna have a bad time, trust me.

Some riffier bands that should be "easier" on the ears:

P.L.F.
Insect Warfare
Death Toll 80k

The last Gridlink album is pretty damn melodic. I could see a lot of non-grind people getting some enjoyment out of it.

Come on IamDBR, none of those bands are grindcore bands, you might aswell have told him to get some Slipknot or Beatles.

@Tyler2198

I love grindcore because it's the most furious style of hardcore punk in existence, the best when you need to clear your head, piss someone off. Or just want some fast awesome tunes!
What i look for in grind is, d-beats mixed with blastbeats, 3chord riffs (hardcore/crossover style), rawness, and totally insane vocals.
And most importantly performed with the punk attitude.
Grindcore is not for everyone.
I will leave out the real noisy stuff, but some of these.

Rise Above
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGROedPEIsQ
Realized
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiTz7F-DKaU
Unholy Grave (This is grindcore perfection)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-JpReWqX1E
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ypPyx8Q2Do
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvrLvSJ0iro
Senseless Apocalypse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H27YaeTZohM
Misanthropic Noise
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDsPbeL-LJk
Filthy Christians
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH0pM_j3n0A
One of the noisier ones (not that noisy, but metalfree and recorded LOUD! Brutal LP)
Hypo-Christians
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HR2XeQO-Zw

And those three bands ThanatusUK listed too.
Grindcore is pretty much dead these days.

Slipknot and Beatles as in trendy commercialized garbage. :-D
But how will a bunch of non-grind bands help someone get into grind?
If i asked someone for some Death Metal to get into, i would be fucking pissed off if someone recommended me Metallica or Babymetal instead of Morbid Angel, Carnage, Entombed etc. And i would still be clueless about DM.

Can anyone rec me some emoviolence bands? Or
Preferably albums with shorter songs(nothing over 3-4 minutea with maybe a few exceptions) and not a lot those half yelled half whined emo-type vocals. A few bands I know and like already are Lord Snow, Youth Funeral, Ostraca and Flesh Born(their new split is quite good).

I ain't followed the genre in a long while, you familiar with the old stuff? Sorry if you know these:
Pg 99 - essential band
Orchid - sounds kinda dated now, but one of the originators
Forcefedglass - Ben Kollers old band, great shit seriously chaotic.
Usurp Synapse - noisy shit, sort of emo violence meets Arab on Radar.
Jerome's Dream - really good band though final record is a bit odd as vocalist fucked his voice.
Neil Perry - another solid early band.
Phoenix Bodies - another band more on the violence side of the equation.
Lickgoldensky - especially the first couple of releases.
Loma Prieta - one of the few more recent bands I know of.

Basically you'd likely find a lot of decent older shit on labels like Gravity, Level Plane, Robotic Empire, Happy Couples Never Last, Alone records

The Red Chord: Deathcore/mathgrind hybrid or something
Man Must Die: Tech death w/ metalcore/grind influence
Cephalic Carnage: Everything from deathgrind to metalcore & gothic metal
Cognizant: Technical deathgrind with Gorguts styled dissonance
Gridlink: Grind w/ tech death/melodeath & post hardcore riffing
Killitorous: Tech deathcore with slight grind influence, closer to Origin & Archspire

First thing that spring to my mind was Crowpath.

Seeing as you mention Nostromo i'd also give Knut, Born Under Saturn and early Shora a go.

start with these, come back when you want more even though this does lack some non american emoviolence.

New CHEPANG soon!
I can't wait!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... VDcstxHfEI
This song sound much different than their EP and demo. I'll be looking forward to hear the new full album.

ps: Any of notice that dude killing them on MA reviews?? He reviewed both of their releases grading them 5/100 and 6/100.
Him following rather unknown band(That actually sounds good to say the least) and bashing them like that.It all seems rather personal.

Yeah I noticed that too. I thought the debut was solid enough, wasn't expecting such a negative review. I don't think anything warrants that score unless it's some willful hot garbage like Sloth or whatever.

Not only that after rating the debut 5 he went on the listen and review their demo. Why would someone do that with an unknown band after he didn't like their debut?

looking for:

a) more party grind bands with a humorous approach like Birdflesh.
b) more experimental/fusion (Exit 13, Skeleton of God, Bad Acid Trip, !T.O.O.H!) or technical (Cephalic Carnage, Hybrid (Spain), A Million of Dead Birds Laughing) grind stuff.

any recommendations?

for experimental grind try psudoku and related bands. Some really spacey and experimental hard hitting grind, a bit like being in a tornado while tripping your ass off.
