Abiotic is literally just chuggy deathcore with tech riffs added, but it doesn't really matter because it's so good at what it's trying to do:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuz-Rtce6KA

Both are great, LCTR lead singer is actually filling in for The Contortionist right now and doing a great job! n.n

For anyone that digs metalcore / post-hardcore (the poppier variety), there's a Swedish band called Adept. The name was likely thrown around but I've been enjoying their latest album a lot. Admittedly, I've edited out cringe-inducing parts in some of their songs (like tracks 2, 3, and 10 off their newest), but other than that it's a pretty damn good album. Again, lots of gushy clean vocals and the lyrical themes / image isn't much to look at it, but the music is enjoyable if you're into this type of stuff.

For the full thing:

This is for those who likes the more brutal kind of deathcore. I've only found one song on youtube, but I think that's their only one at this point. I'm talking about Jraaah, and yes, it's spelled with 3 a's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47Iww2Fl ... 4&index=24

Adept is pretty good, like their second full length the most though, Death Dealers. But their last release is pretty legit :)

Any other that listens to One More Victim, Murder The Frail and/or Temporal?

I can't agree with Death Dealers being good. It's pretty terrible. It's got some great leads here and there, but the band had no clue how to write HOOKS for that album. That's what this latest one does PERFECTLY. All-caps aside, it's an almost perfect representation of post-hardcore of this kind. If only they didn't sprinkle it with some douche-chill moments like the beginning of "Established 2004".

See your point, but I still like their second album the most :P
Discovered them after their 1st full length, and liked songs such as "The Business Of Living", "Shark! Shark! Shark!", "Caution! Boys Night Out!" and "Everything Dies". Sadly I only got their latest album, but will for sure buy their other cds soon :) Pretty new to this collector thing.

Looking for Deathcore/Metalcore that uses Drop G guitar tuning. Dont worry about quality (I love plenty of Deathcore/Metalcore that most metalheads hate), as long as its got Drop G send it my way

Thanks!

The only one that I can think at the moment is Born of Osiris in their latest album, but you probably know them already.

Wikipedia also lists Molotov Solution and Impending Doom, as well as Attack Attack! (on an album called "This Means War" as playing in Drop G.

I remember seeing some blog post about Jraaah a while back, do they have any physical releases out? that one song is fuckin phenomenal but I can't find any info on this band. I'm really hoping it wasn't just some cruel joke track.
Temporal is amazing too, I love the Exitium EP. Anybody have thoughts on Dark Sermon's album? I couldn't get into it for the longest time but those blackened melodies really hit me when I listened to the first track.

Friends of metal, I am looking for metalcore songs that use breakdowns not just for crushing headbangable mosh situations, but for atmospheric effect. So I guess atmospheric breakdowns are what I'm looking for?

Now since I can't think of an example of any song with what I have in mind (quite frankly I'm not sure it exists, though I bet it has to) I will use the example of Jane's Addiction's "Stop" which neither contains a "heavy" breakdown or is metal, but perhaps you'll get the idea.
http://youtu.be/ZwI02OHtZTg?t=1m50s (timestamped at the part)

Now imagine that chord progression chugging along in drop a with spacey ambiance and various other atmospherics layered throughout. Something more hypnotizing than brutally heavy.... if that all makes sense.

Thanks in advanced gals and guys!

You've basically just gone through the mental process of song writing. If you're in a band, you should make this song you seek.

I'm always in the market for brutal deathcore but I've only found a handful of bands I really enjoy.

If anyone knows of a band like Misericordiam, Applaud The Impaler or Shattering The Wretched they could recommend, I'd greatly appreciate it.

so uhh, any thoughts on this band?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncJxIxl9GmA Nexilva-Eschatologies
Despite the awkwardness of watching a music video of a band "slammin' out" like that, some of those riffs in there are pretty well done, and I didn't totally hate the "haunted mansion" keyboarding toward the end there. Apparently this band kinda sounds like Born of Osiris, but I don't hear much of an influence, but I've never really got into much of their music so I'm not a very good judge.

I've been getting into bands like Elitist, Glass Cloud, While She Sleeps, and Your Memorial lately. Seeing similar artists on last.fm only deters me because of their appearance (dumb, I know), so does anyone have any good recs to the above kind of bands?

(similar to this)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWJ21M6kJXg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o_ZnVM4f84

A little dissonance is fine, but mainly going for that modern, riff-heavy angle. Clean vocals aren't a requirement, but I'd definitely prefer no wanky tech/prog. If you've got any that don't go overboard with it, though, I wouldn't mind taking a listen.

[posting in hardcore thread, too]

I think Earth Crisis is a pretty good band, is their any other good metalcore bands that take more from Hardcore punk instead of Post-hardcore and sound closer to like a heavier version of crossover thrash?

There are tons and tons of bands in the style you're looking for. Basically any 90's metalcore band pretty much fits. Check these out:

INTEGRITY - Those Who Fear Tomorrow (pretty much the perfect blend of metal and hardcore, and one of the firsts.)
ALL OUT WAR - Condemned to Suffer (super hard-hitting early 2000's metalcore)
CONVERGE - When Forever Comes Crashing (a lot spazzier than Earth Crisis but you'll probably dig it)
DAY OF SUFFERING - The Eternal Jihad (Vegan metal/hc with lots of evil riffing and apocalyptic lyrics)
STARKWEATHER - Into the Wire (not all that similar to ExC but I feel like this band is essential for metalcore. Completely deranged vocals.)

First of all thanks for these.

Air I Breathe's cleans are a little higher than I'd like but I'm all right with it musically. Erra's very similar to the Swedish band Adept, a band I like for their latest album alone, though those cleans are squeaky clean. Again, higher than I'd like but I can get into it. Texas in July was pretty good.

I Am Abomination :/ ... huh, that one's a hurdle. Leads are great, but those vocals. :|

If you do have any more that aren't in the direction of I Am Abomination then that's what I'm talking about.

Edit: I made a 180 on I Am Abomination. I'm actually hooked on them right now.

If you dig Integrity, you should enjoy Ringworm and Gehenna as well.

Actually, pretty much all the punk bands that were tied to Holy Terror records (whether signed or just sharing split space with those bands) ought to be somewhat up your alley.

Hi guys, can someone throw in bands like Shadow of The Colossus? Nothing too brutal, but very groovy and dinamic riffing with a strong sense of melody without getting too repetitive.

Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm after some Deathcore that leans more towards the Death and less in the 'Core side of things.. stuff in the Tech/Blackened Death vein.. some examples;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZruxuVnJP4M (this one is moreso what I'm after, but perhaps a little more heavier)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vtaROWZt1U (this is more in the 'core vein but still has that intensity I'm after)

Looking for stuff that has less emphasis on breakdowns and widdly widdly guitar and more on intense vocals, guitar riffs and evil atmosphere.. thanks guys!

First off, you seem to have excellent taste in deathcore. If you liked Hate, you definitely ought to check out Fit for an Autopsy, I just heard their new album yesterday and it sounds exactly on par with some of those crushing riffs and breakdowns laden throughout Hate.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTGAK-yMUUY
Might also want to check out Boris the Blade, they seem to be another band that's more death than core.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehx3V7Mcsuo
and for atmospheric, I'd suggest Ovid's Withering.

This might sound retarded, but anyone knows any albums in vein of Bring me the Horizon - Count Your Blessings? I kinda like the whole angsty depressive melodic feel of the album, and would like something like that, mostly songs like (I Used To Make Out With) Medusa and Pray for Plagues. If it has big chunky breakdowns its a big plus, but not a neccessity. The sad melodic riffs are the priority here.

I never really got a sad vibe from that album so I may be completely off with my suggestion, but I recommend Bleed From Within - Humanity. It's the closest thing I ever heard to that particular BMTH album. I don't think there's a album quite like that really.

I just found out the Terrigen mist has a full length that came out a couple months back and it's pretty decent. Recommended for fans of a slightly proggy Job for a Cowboy with some blackened undertones.

^Yes. Starkweather is one of my favorite bands in any genre. Apparently we might be seeing a new release next year, featuring a 30 minute track and a 17 minute track. Definitely pumped for that.

The two tracks were supposed to be on separate splits, but I guess the other bands have just sort of dissolved and the two tracks are getting released together as a Starkweather release. They said another full-length is in the works on top of that. Hopefully it actually does come out next year and it doesn't turn into another five year wait kinda thing.

Can someone recommend to me some stuff in the same vein as Last Nail Driven? I can't get enough of their demo tracks... absolutely awesome.

I'm looking for melodic metalcore that has old-school thrash and traditional influences that has a stunning vocalist - I don't want someone that sounds like the guy from Killswitch Engage or anything like that - I want someone who can scream/growl/etc but who also has a powerful, "trad" voice that's more similar to Bruce or Halford than anything I guess.
