For some reason I’m just drawn to bands that have a big, exotic, ritual atmosphere, for lack of a better word. Like a soundtrack to walking into an old temple. Lots of chanting, eastern influences, tribal drums, you get the idea. Bands like the new Ershetuand Mephorash, some Dodsengel. It seems I’m better at finding songs that have what I’m looking for but not necessarily bands in general.

I don't know the bands you mentioned so I'm hoping my suggestions are close enough to what you're looking for.

For me this track in particular is the best thing of that nature. It's the most "lovecraftian" sounding thing ever. Only the first and last tracks of the album qualify for your request I guess, but I think it's worth checking out:
Solemn They Await - Sanctury in the Depths

Then there's Cult of Fire.

And maybe the Sól án Arma album?

Hi, I don't know any of the three bands you mention. To get an idea, I listened to this song by Mephorash.

I don't get from it any of the particular vibes that you described - wrong song or different personal feel. That being said, this is some ordinary modern "sludgy balckened dark metal" aka "post-black" to me, and of this ilk, I strongly recommend Schammasch which reign supreme in that style imo.

This other ritualistic blackened project deserves a mention as well: https://idoloffear.bandcamp.com/album/trespasser

Listening to Void Meditation Cult I always feel like I'm intruding on some unknowable ritual not meant for human minds...

Thanks for this recommendation of Schammasch, this band annihilates! Listened to and purchased 'Hearts of No Light' :headbang:
