yeah i think that some songs in the vein of Skullcrusher and Horrorscope would be great,i haven´t noted that hey haven´t done songs like that in a while (at least i can´t remember) but i doubt they would do it,most of the songs in Ironbound were fast for the most part,it seems that they are going in the same way.

Anyway i love Overkill, one of the bands that got me into thrash and still my favourite,my fav albums are The years of decay and Horrorscope.

Well if you don't mind a double dose of Jesus in your thrash metal Deliverance does gang shouts fairly often, I like a lot of their songs. Here's a good example:
http://youtu.be/Qxis5KjxI1A

As for the actual song "Death Toll" I was trying to think of another riff that good, and I'm having trouble. The verse riff they play for a good part of that song is just plain fucking FILTHY, lots of bad attitude. I guess the closest thing would be something off of Persecution Mania.

And re: the Overkill talk, I generally don't like their slow songs too much. "Skullcrusher" is fuckin terrible and "Years of Decay" is decent compared to the whole rest of that album which rules. So yeah the less slow songs on an Overkill album the better.

For a crippling amount of gang vocals done extremely effectively you need to check out Cross Examination's album "Menace II Sobriety"

Hi guys, can you recommend me some great thrash albums? well,im not looking for anything especific, just geat riffs, rythmin, memorable songs, etc, some of my favourite albums are Bonded by blood,South of Heaven,Beneath the Remains,Horrorscope,The new Order,Ride the Lighting,Extreme Agression, then there is Sodom,Heathen,Forbidden, etc but i want something new (not necesary recent) ...some of the underground stuff that i have heard (i mean, the really underground, not Xentrix,Num Skull, etc) don´t convince me,and modern thrash,is not band but aside from Torture Squad, not any other band have clicked on me.Sometimes i have the feeling that i heard everything that i could enjoy, anyway here are some of the bands that i have listened (haven´t listened to all the stuff obiously) http://www.lastfm.es/user/veyita_88/lib ... rash+metal

Also if you know any groove metal but with real thrash influences,i mean, something like Cowboys from hell,Burn my Eyes or Resurrection (Chimaira) is a genre with "potential" but it can get kind of dumb or boring, anyway i like some of it.

Thanks for any possible recommendation.

Little confused about whether you are ok with recommendations on underground thrash from the 80s and early 90s. I'll recommend a mix of old and modern stuff.

I'm finally getting into Thrash, mostly thanks to Xlxlx. Artillery and Toxik are awesome.

You have no idea how glad I am to hear that :-D

For more melodic and technical thrash metal, I suggest you check out Realm. They are, for a lack of a better word, insane.

Holy shit realm rules. They remind me of Toxik, but not as polished, which i love. Love the prevalent bass sound. Thx!

[url]Check out Vendetta's (Ger) first two albums. Brain damage, their sophomore effort, is an often melodic tech-thrash behemoth.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4onw_Fa0-ZQ

I like to plug this bad every chance I get as well: Pyracanda. Their first album is a melodic, but rifftastic thrash album with several gems there-in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeCgGg84LMY When the song kicks in after that intro...... :headbang:

But of those bands had awesome riffs and horrible vocals. This leaves us at an impasse :p

Haha yeah, I've always liked Death Metal and all those other extreme styles. I just recently got into Thrash. I really like the riffs and solos, but 90% of the time the vocals put me off. Which is why I like the two bands I mentioned, they have awesome vocals.

I find it odd that the vocalist of Toxik doesn't put you off when many of the others do. What style of vocals are you after for thrash?

yeah pretty confusing query. So is it death vocals, black vocals, or high pitched you are looking for?

Seems like Necro is mostly into high pitched, melodic vocals when it comes to thrash, as he loved Toxik and Artillery right off the bat and also liked Realm. Well, how about some Watchtower then? Alan Tecchio might be a bit grating for some, but I like him. Well, now that I think about it, the first Watchower singer is also rather annoying.....

Indeed, I already knew Watchtower though. When it comes to Jarzombek, I prefer Blotted Science. As for this guy's vocals, technically they're fine, but his tone irks me.
Also, to answer your questions, I don't mind the vocal style as long as it's charismatic, powerful, and most importantly (a lot of thrash vocalists seem to ignore this one) dosen't sound like shit. Vio-lence? Bitch please.
Edit: I also just got into Flotsam and Jetsam. That guy's vocals are good. Well the first few albums.

Sounds like you want melodic vocalists. Sad reality is it is a genre swamped with screams, shouts, growls, shrieks, gurgles, and basically general anger sacrificing the more melodic aspect. Do a search for power/thrash as your bound to find more charismatic vocals. Believe me when I say thrash could have used more singers than the status quo.

You have hear Holy terror yeah? The lead singer is tons of charisma.

The Overkill song was good overall, and yeah the vocals were cool too. I'd heard quite a bit about them, but never checked them out. The Sabbat one was certainly different. Weird but cool production, really frantic overall, the narration at the beginning was meh, but the vocalist was pretty good. Nothing world changing like your post implied though :p I thought Blitz was better.

Holy Terror was my favourite out of the three. Good stuff.

Yes, definitely. Which reminds me that I have to check out Skyclad.....

Back on topic; Necro, you should seriously consider checking out early Overkill (especially The Years of Decay and Horrorscope) coupled with some of their more modern stuff, as records like Necroshine and Ironbound (particularly the latter), while not as great as their classics, are still tremendous.

Their first two albums are pretty thrashy, then they turned more folky.

Regardless, every single album is good, even those without Martin.

Cyriis has no human cousins Xlxlx, his true kin are far beyond the scope of man :tinfoil:

On a tech thrash fix lately and really enjoying Obliveon's first album. Just kicks my ass every time I hear it:

Looks like the subsequent albums have equal, or better reviews so I am quite anxious to check them out.

Don't set your expectations too high. Only Nemesis is in the same style. The other two are more like a teched-up Fear Factory or something (although I still enjoy them for what they are).

If anyone is looking for an all female thrash band in the vein of Kreator and Destruction then check out Dracena. Pretty cool stuff. I think they may have had a male drummer though for the album.

Another great band with melodic vocals is Heathen, but not that high pitched or raspy, pretty clean, more like heavy metal vocals.Forbidden too.Metal Church first album is a thrashy heavy metal album with a good and raspy singer.

Ah, yes. For Metal Church, I especially recommend the debut album and Hanging in the Balance. I'd hesitate to just call them thrash metal though, as there are quite a few traditional and power metal elements in their formula. As for Forbidden; HELL YES!!! The first two albums are unsung classics, and their last one is no slouch either. And Heathen is a strange case; I believe all their albums are good, but I think David R. White only became a truly great singer in their last one, as his voice matured a lot with the years and now sounds much more muscular and manly.
