That Arachnid is really good!

Also whoever mentioned Wrath a page or two ago, I've been enjoying them a lot lately, Solid bouncy riffs and too much tech to simply be labelled whiffle-thrash. Nicely done, I think it was Xlxlx, you the man.

Anyone here familiar with Insane (Italy)? I stumbled across these guys a couple weeks back and I've been spinning this album a lot since. The easiest comparison is probably Slayer's first two albums. Great stuff. Too bad they've only released the one album.

Yeah Insane is some very enjoyable Show no Mercy worship. I wish they released more stuff to.

I've seen that Insane album on the suggested videos for countless thrash bands, but never cared to listen to them. Good stuff.

Guys, check out Morbid Scream, seriously good thrash with a bit of an OSDM aesthetic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl1zbHSM ... re=related

Yeah those guys are good and so is Silent Scream like someone posted last page. You can never have too much good death/thrash in your collection.

That somebody is this guy right here :). And now, rather than throwing out random recs, I'll ask for one-Anybody know of any 80's thrash bands that sound similar to the debuts of Exodus, Overkill, Metallica, Slayer, Death Angel, ect. Very much thrash metal, but still with some notable NWOBHM in it, and in Exodus, Metallica, and Overkill's case, a touch of early hardcore/punk. Something with the "Beer and metal" attitude, but not as over the top as many of the newer thrash bands.

Destruction's Sentence of Death EP may suit you. Some of their best work in my opinion and retains a dirty NWOBHM flavor.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzhOkzTeB-U

Also Laaz Rockit

Metal Church's debut

Sacrifice

Onslaught's The Force

For newer bands maybe Rezet

Except only Sentence of Death carries that NWOBHM flavor, though it isn't as prominent as he may be looking for. :p

For me the best Destruction album has to be Infernal Overkill. It's like a guidebook for great thrash riffs. Cracked Brain's my second favourite, even with it's stupid and completely unnecessary The Knack cover.

^ HELL YEAH. \m/I just got into them recently, myself - they're sort of a modern, death metal-influenced approach to Slayer worship with slick production on their last two albums. They can write some damn well put together thrash tunes. See: "Morbid Intention to Kill."

Anyone know of any bands that sound like Ulysess Siren with the fast and fairly technical, schizo riffing? I am familiar with a lot of thrash and can't think of anything that sounds quite like them.

I'm trying to find an album like Death Angel's "Act 3".
Also trying to find an album like Iced Earth's "The Glorious Burden", it's perfect. \m/

Okay, I'm an Iced Earth fanboy, but...what?

I...guess the closest thing to The Glorious Burden would be Sabaton, but that's really only due to the emphasis on themes of war and mid-tempo march-style tunes.

Also, neither that album nor Sabaton are thrash metal. Latter Iced Earth material is more firmly power metal than power/thrash.

^I didn't ask for the rec, but thanks for it. Late 80's/early 90's tech thrash is my favorite style of metal, and I thought that I'd already found all the good bands in that style. If you've got any more recs like that, please share... And I already know about the more well known names in the style-Coroner, Toxik, Deathrow, Realm, and their ilk.

I enjoy Mission Executed but it hasn't got that wild and schizo riffing I am looking for.

And Thrashierthanthou try these: Aftermath, Annihilator, Watchtower, Arcane, Aspid, Mekong Delta, Wolf Spider,Terrahsphere, Hexenhaus. Believer, Geisha Goner

Yo, Temple of Blood, on your next album, tell the guys in the studio to turn the volume on that shit WAY, WAY UP.

Those first 2 albums were so quiet, it was distracting. I wanna be blown outta my seat on this next one!

You mean just the vocals? They got buried on the 2nd album partially because of how bass-heavy the mastering was. The first album was recorded on the cheap. We won't make that mistake again! Gonna send it off to a pro to mix and master instead of having a band debate about what all the levels should be.

I'm also debating if we should re-record some of the songs from our first two albums with our new lineup. The new players are so much better and my singing is light-years ahead of where it was when I first started. Maybe do half new material and half re-recordings. Just bouncing around the idea.

That sounds cool. It's always fun to hear familiar tracks in new ways.

Oh, and about the arguing regarding which instruments should be louder, the answer is all of them. I want a huge wall of fucking power/thrash to slam me in the face when I push Play on Track #1.

Just rediscovered Bezerker from Australia. I forgot all about them. They are another rather technical/progressive thrash band and they released one album in 1989. Very good stuff to.

Antichrist is one of the best revival bands I have heard so far. This is what so many retro bands try to do but just don't quite manage to recapture the 80s feel and just don't have that fresh sound.

No but seriously you guys, listen to Disciples Of Power. Old school Canadian thrash, more technical than your average thrash, numerous well done acoustic passages, and with Slayeresque aggression.

Here's a great website for finding forgotten thrash bands. I've come across many fine bands by reading through threads here.

For instance, after lookin around for about 5 minutes, I found this old demo only thrash band Deranged that makes Morbid Saint look like pussies.

Can you recommend me some 80s thrash with a warm guitar tone and lots of soul-stirring solos?

Pretty much like Overkill and, though not thrash, Pantera.

The Exodus period between BBB and the 90's is hugely overlooked and underrated. Fabulous Disaster and Impact is Imminent and Pleasures should be right up your alley Slack, and if you like those go ahead and listen to Testament's 80s stuff.

Drop Dead. So much fuzz here you can hardly tell whats going on. Raw death/thrash from 1988.
Alright, and now for a request... Something like Xentrix's For Whose Advantage album. Not too fast, not very extreme, just average midpaced to above midpaced thrash with generally clean vocals. Nothing too complicated, nothing Too Extreme!, just... Thrash.

Im currently looking for some quality thrash metal from Poland. I found Poisoned, which I have their demo on cassette. And I recently found Hellias. Any others worth noting that is not Vader which we all know?
