Do you know of the dropouts that plague the first press of Marduk's "Those..." LP? You'll find it on that vinyl edition only for all I know.

For something related - a different kind of defect, try to listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lppkkNJSRs
I bet there's no way you'll be able to listen to more than the first five seconds.

Whoa, holy shit! In all my time wasted on YouTube, I've never seen something like that happen before. That's genuinely interesting, and I'm curious what makes the video do that.

Mayhem (NOR) - Mayhemic Carnage Bootleg LP
The asshole who did this MLP mixed 45/33 rpm on one side... what a joke.

On the Vinnum Dei Satanas - The Wine Of Satan LP sampler (the original version from 1993) the Perdition Hearse track gets remarkably lower in volume towards the middle of the song and stays low in volume until the Mortuary Drape track starts.

Dies Irae — Circle of Leth
All the distortion you hear on the tracks is a combination of tape in poor state + shitty rip. At some points it gets compressed quite badly and there are some micro fluctuations in tempo too. A good dose of hiss to boot.

Same for their earlier band, Cruciamentum. The left channel in this is a mess:

I'm actually working on a black/folk thing in which I intend to record all on tape precisely to play with the physical glitches it allows for, but I won't be able to get an electric guitar for the next couple of months, so it'll take a while before I have that ready. I'll make sure to post it somewhere once it is, tho.

Thanks, these are all good recommendations. Early Black/death metal demos, which are extremely lo-fi or shit-fi to begin with, and the only available tape rip features noticeable tape warble, to the point (and BEYOND) of making them unlistenable, is what I'm looking for in particular.

A bit too hi-fi for the thread, but i wanted to exhume this odd Nargaroth song from my teenage years: it has a good number weird, high pitched sounds in the synth part that clip pretty heavily (minutes 13.34 and 16.02) i don't think it was intentional

Spoiler: show
