Hi guys. Looking for super catchy, melodic riffs. Beauty, sadness and melancholy would be vibes im looking for. Preferably black or death metal. I just love to get lost in blissful guitar harmonies while being pummeled to death by fast drumming. Thanks again!

That would be quite a vague description, can you at least name a reference band / song / album?

https://sorathiandawn.bandcamp.com/album/sorathian-dawn

this came to mind, though not sure it fits the bill, it's hard to quantify catchiness when it's such a subjective and personal thing

for me it's one of the best Black/Death albums ever released

Can't go wrong with Kalmah though I'd hesitate to call them black or death metal.

Yes, sorry. I understand its completely ambiguous. One album that comes to mind is Wounds by The Funeral Pyre. It’s basicaly nonstop sad melodic riffs over aggressive drumming. Link below, thanks

 You kidding me? That's way far in the opposite direction of what he's asking for.

Try Mercenary's second album. Kinda restrained in the drumming department, but rather catchy lite melo-death.

Or try The Arcane Order who kinda have the same idea but faster/more extreme sounding/overall better.

You should check out Life's Door by Cobra the NWOBHM band ( yes i know, it is the only band i've heard of). The keyboards really capture the feeling of melancholy you mentioned. The bad thing is, they are not black or death metal. Though this track is pretty melodic.

Spite Extreme Wing's Magnificat is the album for you: endless streams of empowering, blazing fast melodies

I suggest often this album because i really think it's a lost classic  tracks like "La Stirpe Divina" and "Acqua Fonte di Gloria" should convince you, i hope :)

Astronoid - Air is super catchy and melodic while still containing just enough extreme metal elements. Might be worth checking out.

You might like The Slow Death--melancholic doom/death metal that is also incredibly melodic.

Hyperion from Sweden should fit this bill. Hyper melodic, super fast, pummeling drum work with epic, soaring and often melancholic melodies for days on the full length Seraphical Euphony. Gets a bit much for me in some tracks, but you might dig it. Pretty awesome album overall though.

Seraphical Euphany

Novus Ordo Seclorum

Bit surprised that Dawn wasn't mentioned (unless you already know them of course), considering you are looking for black/death styled bands. Salughtersun (Crown of the Triarchy) is a classic of the melodic/melancholic sound.

The Knell and the World

I think It checks a lot of the boxes (beauty, melancholy, harmonies, pummelling drumming, extreme metal)

I'll wait his feedback i guess :)

Love this band. Their fast melodic parts are what I’m looking for, instrumentally. The vocals take some time to get used to but overall great stuff, thanks

Killer stuff indeed. A bit technical for my current tastes but impressive musicianship hands down

Check out First Fragment - Dasein
Blazing neoclassical shredding within a tech death framework, amazing mix of melody & brutality with some of the finest musicianship in metal I've heard

I always thought Irish band For Ruin was pretty damn melodic. I prefer their first full length. Although the drums don’t excactly match imo, the rest of the album is brutal, but beautiful. I couldn’t find the full album on you tube but here’s a taste of their album December.
