I only have three albums by them at present, which are a blaze in the northern sky, transilvanian hunger and Under a Funeral Moon, i am aware they have alot of stuff out and some crust punk albums, so aside from the three I have I want to know what other albums are the best by them in terms of quality black metal? Ideally dont want any of the experimental stuff.

Get "Panzerfaust".

Absolutely agree! also Ravishing Grimness is an underrated one: the title track and Claws of Time rank among their best songs, and that's saying something :)

Arctic Thunder is currently my go-to album of them. Kind of in between their old school black metal and the newer stuff, I guess.

as for classic stuff, get panzerfaust, which is like a mix of harsh celtic frost worship and leftovers from transilvanian hunger (very good ones), and total death, which is like a transition album from classic to newer DT. I guess the rest of the albums can be argued about, but these are really DT at their best.
as for their newer stuff, I personally recommend the underground resistance, but you'll get as many recs on new DT as they have albums, I guess. maybe it's also too "experimental" for you.

Listen to all Darkthrone albums in chronological order. Then you will know which are good and how they fit into the Darkthrone saga.
