Hello guys, I've been searching a lot for Viking/Folk Metal bands that sound similar to Forefather but without the Anti-Christian themes to them. They sound really amazing, especially the lyrical content and the War/Honor themes. Do you guys have any recommendations?

I have checked Holy Blood, Slechtvalk, Vaakevandring, Oskord, and Illuminandi before but they didn't quite get there. Forefather is probably unique regarding its way of playing, lyrics and that amazing choir in the background. But I will check the other bands as you recommended. Thank you for your help Kerrick.

I tried listening to all of those but they just don't have the same kick. Forefather has unique sound and thematics and these bands just don't feel the same. Thank you for your help though.

Why do you want this? That's the soul of the music. Non-anti-christian metal is a hollow charade.

No problem, I'm sorry I couldn't be much more help! I'm pretty well versed in Christian metal, though not so much in the folk scene. Good luck!

This should be more common than you think it is. I even re-checked Bathory's Hammerheart and unless you want to count "One Rode to Asa Bay", which is about Christianity coming to Scandinavia which I don't think is particularly explicit, it should be up there. It's not difficult to write about Norse/whatever mythology and not even mention Christians.

At any rate, here's Sons of Crom, an actual epic viking heavy metal band that's actually good.

Wilytank, thank you for your help. Sons of Crom's style is awesome and sounds pretty nice. Do you happen to know a band that follows that style but with gutturals? Bathory is just a bit too satanic for my taste.

Turisas is very polite about religion. They're mostly telling stories, not picking sides.

There's men of the cross and the hammer
A few of the moon crescent
Men simply searching for glamour
Some concealing their royal descent
The axe-bearing foreigners they have aptly named us
All we've come from afar
Diversity is what unites us
We are the Varangian Guard!

 Umm... There's absolutely no Satanism in Hammerheart, Twilight of the Gods, Blood on Ice, or the Nordland albums. I don't know what you're on about.

Not sure if Wind Rose qualify, as they're not technically Viking metal. That's Dwarf Metal, as I call it, and I wonder why no one came up with such an entertaining theme before.: ) Anyway, their 2017 album, Stonehymn, sounds a lot like Turisas.

(Note that it only applies to latest releases. Their debut was very different; they played SymphonyX-inspired prog back then).

That is good too, but not as much as Turisas. Do you have any other ones?

I do not know much Russian, but Woodscream does not seem to have anti-Christian themes.

Not Anti-Christian does not mean pro-Christian.

Of course, but those are the only ones I'm aware of and they're certainly not anti-Christian so they are relevant to the OP's request...

Dudes honestly let's not make this an argument. I enjoy Christian metal myself and I'm thankful to everyone who suggested a band in this thread to try to help me out. We're here cause we all love metal and not cause we are all part of one religion or another.

We'll have to disagree there. Metal is a religion and those who attempt to practice it in conjunction with another are guilty of apostasy. But that's just my opinion.

Psyclopus from Shanghai, China has an instrumental demo. They have performed live with vocals, but I did not hear anything anti-Christian.

Do you consider Norse mythology anti-Christian? If not, you may enjoy the atmospheric black/folk stylings of Ifing.

Sentinum may also be of interest.

Metsatöll is an Estonian folk metal band and as far as I know they don't have anti-christian content in their lyrics.
A lot of their lyrics are about war, history and mythology, lots of pagan stuff. I'd say their older stuff is more melodic compared to more recent material.

Yeah, it's not like songs such as "Bastards of the Lying Breed" and "Thousand Years of Oppression" show anything significant about the band.

Or the fact that they never played anything like folk metal or Hammerheart-influenced stuff :-P :-D
