I've been listening to the first Municipal Waste EP released all the way back in 2001. I love how raw the production is. I find it to be extremely endearing and I love the youthful energy in the recording. Does anyone have any suggestions for another crossover recording that is just as raw and goofy, or otherwise similar? While I like later MW releases, I feel like they lost their rawness and energy - especially recently. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I want to listen to something decent that sounds like a bunch of their high school friends recorded together.

Yeah, I've listened to all of them before. I guess the first DRI release is kinda what I'm looking for.

Leeway - Born to expire

Rumble Militia - Stop Violence and Madness

Suicidal Tendencies - Check out their entire catalogue. Municpal Waste's biggest influence, and one of the most important crossover bands.

Check the similar artists tabs for these bands, and you should find a load more you like.

Wehrmacht, The Accused, and Cryptic Slaughter are right up your alley. A lot of the goofiness of todays crossover comes from Wehrmacht.

Also, I second Leeway. I can't recommend their frist 2 albums enough.

Am i being under a rock lately? Most of the band mentioned are NOWHERE near the crossover genre? Slaughter? Heibel? Whiplash? Attitude adjustment? Or they are pure hardcore or pure Thrash, but NOT crossover.

Btw: Check Iron reagan, Insanity Alert, Excel, Septic Death, Vitamin X, Mucky pup.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong: There are a lot of good bands mentioned here. But i find it sometimes hard to discover where the line is between ( fast ) hardcore and crossover thrash.
Also : Many thanks for that Foreseen recommendation. Never heard of them before. Time to check them out.

There's a lot of crossover in both Slaughter "Strappado" and Whiplash "Power And Pain", go and listen to them again. There's a shitload of hardcore and punk going on in those songs. They played with and supported hardcore/crossover bands back in the day, influencing each other along the way.
As for Attitude Adjustment " American Paranoia", don't know what else to say but this is crossover in it's purest form.
The bands on the list are recommendations. Simply, if you like that, you may like this. Crossover links hardcore, punk and metal. So it stands to reason that all of those bands on that list whether hardcore punk, crossover thrash or whatever other label you want to use may appeal to someone who likes Municipal Waste. The lines are blurry but that's what makes it awesome.
