So, I'd like it if some of you guys recommended me some doom/sludge bands with noticeably crunchy riffing and utterly ASTOUNDING vocals. What you understand as "astounding" is up to you, so my only real conditions is that you stick to the "crunchiness" bit and don't mention anything too obvious (also, no excruciatingly slow suggestions, please). Thanks in advance!

What is "crunchy riffing" exactly? Give us at least one concrete example so we know in which direction we're going. And should the vocals be harsh?

Okay, yeah, a couple more details; by "crunchy" riffing I mean stuff with a very thick (but not fuzzy), powerful and grinding guitar tone (think Candlemass, only bigger sounding). And I'd prefer the vocals to be clean, although harsh vocals are welcomed as long as you consider the vocalist in question to be particularly amazing.

I literally can't think of anything fitting that, Sludge isn't exactly known for it's amazing vocalists, but I would be interested in this too.

Yep, you're asking for sludge with the guitar tone of Candlemass and clean vocals??? Sounds like you want heavier epic doom or something.

It doesn't have to necessarily be sludge, as I wrote "doom/sludge" to say "either of the two styles". What 'toine said ("heavier epic doom") sounds just alright in my book.

Thou - The Archer & The Owle (Louisiana)

40 minutes of triumphant doom-laden sludge fury

The vocals, especially on Bonnet Carré, remind me of Jacob Bannon, (though are not nearly as dynamic)

Any money made from downloads will either go direct to the artist(s) and/or go right
back into making more cheap downloads available!

Check out Loss debut, it's quite the masterful funeral doom death release and is about to be released on vinyl.

Once you've seen Esoteric live, it's far from mighty. Pathetic at highest.

Anyone know what's up with Skepticism? They haven't released something in like 4 years.

Check out Argus. They get compared a lot to Candlemass and are really good. Maybe not as heavy as you are looking for though.

Hey Acid, these Argus lads sound pretty cool. Sure, just like you said, they aren't exactly what I'm looking for, but still, I think they will do. From what I listened to up until now sounds more like what is usually called "epic heavy metal" rather than plain old doom, though. Not like I'm complaining, as it's still very pleasant to the ear.

Anyone ever heard of INVDRS?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7_-vak4_ig

They've only got one album out at the moment, Electric Church, which was released in 2010.
I really like these guys. I'd share a better song, cause they have wayyy better songs on the album, but there's only like 3 from Youtube.

But yeah, Electric Church goes into my top 10 favorite albums, easily.

Man, that post-Roger Waters Pink Floyd like album cover sucks, though. The other covers were much more interesting.

Can anyone recommend me some 70's sounding Black Sabbath worship stoner rock/metal? Something along the lines of Orchid, Uncle Acid and The Deadbeats or even Graveyard and Witchcraft.

Hey. I have two requests.

1) I'm looking Blackened Post metal or Post metal influenced Black metal. I realize if there are any such bands, they'd be relatively new and might only have single songs, demos, or maybe an EP out. I guess bands similar to Altar of Plagues, Encircling Sea, and Vattnet Viskar is what I'm looking for. I'm not looking Atmospheric Black metal, Post ROCK influenced Black metal, or "Blackgaze"/Post punk influenced Black metal.

2) I'm looking for bands with deep, clean vocalists similar to Albert Witchfinder.

Thanks in advance.

Taking into consideration how great of a singer Javier is, I think he has all the right to show off his pipes. Goddamnit, if I were that good of a singer I would rub it in people's faces too. Not everyone gets to be badass mix of Layne Staley and Chris Cornell, you know?

I am looking for new or recently released (within the last year) doom demos and or debut albums eps.

I am a fan of burning witch, cough, electric wizard, khanate, loss, evoken, disembowelment, winter, rev bizarre, candlemass, st. vitus asunder and many more. I am not picky just looking for quality demos of pretty much any style of doom. I am looking for demos specificly for the reviews section of my zine. I plan on paying for the demos i am not looking for free handouts.

Hey primitive, Evangelist's In Partibus Infidelium might not be a demo, but it was released just last year and it's quality epic doom, for certain.

Probably these :

Verwustung : http://youtu.be/Up6mk8mi6rg
Verwustung (latest album) : http://youtu.be/KNsnDmKBuw4
Sieghetnar : http://youtu.be/ysvaHmGKry0
Petrychor : http://youtu.be/MUZtULEa8Ps

All their songs are long though, and have pretty long intro except for the last link I posted. Hopefully these are what you're looking for? Sorry if they aren't, because they're most probably Atmospheric BM.

Please for black metal or the likes, use the proper help thread.

For Witchfinder, I'll say that he's pretty unique, have you heard the latest Spiritus Mortis? But maybe the obvious ones like Count Raven, Solitude Aeternus or even Orodruin? I'll give more recs later, it's very late :)
