Pretty self-explanatory I'd say.

The only caveat is it must be the metal that's riffless. 10 minute droning or ambient parts don't count.

I'd still call those riffs. They're just improvised over a repeated melodic phrase with which they harmonize.



I don't know what I'd call that but not metal.

The second track i'm not sure about, there's some parts that could either be called extremely short riffs or a single section of note/chord repetitions.

I'm a bit disappointed that death metal was all I could find. I know symphonic metal is codeword for "has synths and operatic singing" but surely there must be some in that genre?
