Well, there goes another great Euro-Power metal band. I actually thought that the sequel to Return to Heaven Denied was actually a pretty good return to form for the and was a bit shocked when Rob Tiranti left. But why Mark Boals? He will bring nothing new or fresh to the table here. Not sure how this will sound but I can't see Boals singing "Moonlight" or "New Horizons" and it sounding "right."

Well I wasn't prepared to go that far since I'm sure there are a billion guys that sound like Tiranti (or are at least as good as Tiranti) in the Italian scene. Just not sure what they were thinking when they decided on Boals.

Shocking news for me, Rob is one of my favourite vocalists in metal and Labyrinth are probably my favourite power metal band.

Honestly I didn't know this many people cared about Labyrinth. I like them pretty well, but I forgot they existed for years up until I saw this thread. This did make me want to revisit Return to Heaven Denied though...sucks Tiranti's gone now I guess.

Return to Heaven Denied and Sons of Thunder were excellent albums....although the production on the latter was a bit shoddy. The Return sequel was quite good too. As I said before, I'm sure there are plenty of young talented singers in the Italian Euro-power metal scene that could have taken his place. Not fucking Mark Boals. He had a mediocre voice 30 years ago. I'll listen to whatever they release but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Didn't know who the hell Mark Boals was so I looked him up on the Archives and he is the voice on Ring of Fire's "Dreamtower" which I really liked. But I am more familiar with Labyrinth's work and this isn't exactly great news. Hopefully Boals will surprise us (pleasantly).

Mark Boals goes all the way back to the 80s. He sang on Yngwie Malmsteen's third album. He has a good range but an annoying tone so he is hit or miss at best. He's no Rob Tiranti and he's not right for Labyrinth. It may surprise us, but I'm not putting much hope into that.

He's on the massively disappointing "Battle of Leningrad" album from Ring of Fire.

His voice fits some shit and not others. Labyrinth is in the "not others" column. Malmsteen's Trilogy is one of my favorite albums and has been for a long time. But even on that album I had some issues with his tone.
