If you are going to mention robot ducks you can't leave out this one.

While it for sure isn't the greatest cover, Sundin at least explained the concept behind it on the Cavin Fever Media website, so there was an idea there (however poorly executed it was) and not just a hasty "let's slap the band logo on the background!" sort of thing. All three of the cover arts were used in all three regions, by the way: the pictured one for standard editions, one for the deluxe CD editions, and one for the vinyl. Europe is stuck with that cover for standard editions, too. And, to be honest, the other two aren't much better...

And there's Judge Dredd next to a knockoff of the gravestone from the Left Hand Path cover that says "Rest in Festering Duck Red - Have a Quacking Day". And I just noticed a Xenomorph on the very bottom of the art that blends in with the background.

Well, nerts to me. I was gone over the weekend and only saw the other one.

Don't be ashamed, I actually beat you to the punch on Stronger Than Ever, then realized that is what triggered the other mechanical duck post, so I deleted my post.

Totally agree there's just way too much awesome shit going on in there for it to be lame. Also what is the ducks left foot on? It looks so familiar yet I just can't place it.

He has no legs below the knees. Whomever did the artwork must have gotten bored or the band wasn't able to afford paying him to finish it. Music is pretty fun for crossover thrash though.

Is it my shitty laptop monitor? He may be on his knees but with that angle you should be able to still see the leg below the knees.

edit: Actually the more I look at it, the more it reminds me of something else, maybe from a video game? (But Metroid isn't what I'm thinking of, unless there was some stylized art of it on the cover of the box -- for some reason that's what's feeling familiar: 90's video game box art.)

I just came across this one by misspelling the thrash band Devastracktor and ended up with Devastraktor which was mislabeled from Devastathor. Oh and there is a thrash band by the name Devasthator. There is a band with every bloody misspelling.

Two things just made that band my favourite musical group ever: the fact that a death metal band decided that was totally fitting cover art for their genre, and the fact that a death metal band decided 'yeah, we're gonna call one of the songs on this album 'Honey, You Smell Like Salami', because seriously, we ran out of fucks to give like ten years ago, and we didn't have too many to begin with.'
