As a fan of the books I'm glad there is a band trying to do the epic world that the authors created justice, and I think these guys come close.

Caladon Brood from Salt Lake City will release their debut album in february called "Echoes of Battle". The songs are apparently inspired by the fantasy book series "The Malazan book of the fallen" by Steven Erikson.

Better on second listen but, again, I see it as a poor's man Summoning:

Strong Summoning vibe BUT... I don't think they have the same quality.

On a completely unrelated note, has anyone else heard the new Elffor? seems they changed a little.

They (Eôl from Elffor and Jabo from Numen) recorded the new album by themselves (without an external producer).
It sounds amazing and, in fact, I'm listening to Elffor in chronologically inverse order cause I find old Elffor quite monotonous (even enjoying Summoning, old Burzum, Wongraven, old Mortiis,...).
