my initial response too... but then i found actual songs and compositions in there

See, that's the problem. I already see the actual songs and compositions in there. My initial response came after seeing them.

I don't know its ok, lot of conventional melody at play, but it just sounds like dubstep to me.
I don't know if you insane, my sis really enjoys it too.
for "unhinged" I'd go with NOISM or Orthrelm.
I prefer GXXX, lot less melody http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIgFM2JlJxg

elements of dubstep ...sure

elements of breakcore .... sure

BUT mixed in with elements of that other worldly death metal sound and dark industrial

Whoa really! was that before or after the utterly predictable and boring parts?
Here try this for unhinged http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDPeuJr-Vsw

Can we try and define what is meant by the term, Unhinged? For me, it invokes a sense of music which falls over itself, and is on the verge of collapsing completely but keeps up somehow and has a real sense of energy, as when during the Manhattan experiment the fission material became unstable and radiated the scientists working to create the atomic bomb.

I don't equate "Unhinged" with being experimental.
its definitely there...though for this project its way less than what is the norm for Cal...but when it shows up there is no doubting the tech. death metal influence

well, it sounded unhinged to me...and before you are too quick to judge , check out some Umbah to put it in context.
also check out this website :

I kind of liked it, I would think its mostly industrial-ish, I didn't hear any dubstep after getting halfway through disc 1... As was mentioned above, it was a little less coherent then it should of been, the song writers should check out Nurse With Wound for examples of a similar method pulled off much better.

Its not unhinged though, if someone wants unhinged, they should try this (not metal).

Edit: Whoever recommended Stalaggh as unhinged or good should feel bad about themselves, the music in the op is far more interesting.

To defining unhinged, unhinged means to confuse, disrupt or remove from hinges.
Melody and and rhythm are what keep music "hinged" and therefor predictable, so you'd need to get rid of those before you could consider it unhinged.

To op, apology's for being ass like, I'm having a bad week, take this in amendment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgxao5_blM4
it may fit your palette.

I assume it's a reference to John Cage's "4:33", a musical composition consisting of four minutes and thirty-three seconds of silence.
thanks for clarifying that slightly obscure refernce

i, being a philistine, would have got the point more clearly if he had referred to TON's "....of Silence, and It's Disastrous Consequences"

John Cage 4 33..obscure? You're a philistine?

Stop trying, man.

Also, your dubstep 'metal' or 'music' as you describe it (with the quote marks) is as unhinged as a closed door.

There's nothing "unhinged" about 4'33" - just a pretentious concept and/or an unfunny joke taken way, way too far.

i have heard some john cage but i would be hard pressed to name or remembr the record...and by title (4 ' 33) it definitely was far beyond my world

this is NOT 'my' metal but basically me trying to spread the word about an artist i immensely enjoy and respect

but apparently many here dont feel that crazy quality of the music which may be down to taste or down to context

even if 1 or 2 people found it worthwhile it was worth it starting this thread...cheers

I always wondered if there are people out there who really listen to this.
But then again, I listened to LDOHs latest album in one sitting as well. After doing that three days in a row I started to hear "ghost" snare noise. Meaning I heard the machine gun snare without actually listening to anything. Scary.
I guess if you listen to Gorenoise for a week, you´ll turn crazy....or if you actually listen to that, you´re crazy by default....

Nah, I've had a few people proclaim me insane for my taste in anti-music, but they've yet to prove shit, as for the "ghost snare" I still hear the Pokemon Blue overworld and battle themes sometimes, now THAT'S scary, I mean it's been the better of ten years since I played that game.

Also you should totally check out "Teenass Revolt" it's still noisy as hell, but it's really fucking groovy.

pretty interesting it sounds like a project I did back in 2003 with some friends called the black south. it was just along the same lines as that.. but less actual riffs, more noise and weirdness and it was totally destroyed lofi.

Glad to see something similar, I'll have to investigate it further later today.

Sounds like Merzbow or something. Electric Kettle is about as much glitch/noise as I can take to be honest. Songs without structure just bore the hell out of me, no matter how 'talented' the musicians making it may be.
