I think with Symphonies it's pretty much a typical deathgrind album, longer death metal songs and more coherent death metal riffs and songwriting mixed with chaotic solos and speedy grind parts. That's just my opinion really but it's how I see it, I do agree that Reek of Putrefaction is a grind album.

I didn't really enjoy SS but I thought this interview was great and worth sharing. Bill and Jeff talk about the reception of Swansong, the whole deal with Colin Richardson and they go off on a rant or two as well.

The topic title needs to be changed, because i keep thinking Carcass is already writing the follow-up to Surgical Steel. Awesome album btw.

I enjoyed Surgical Steel. Not their best (that would be Symphonies) but quality material still. I don't have any particular problem with Swansong either, but it kind of sticks out of the discography even when taking into account the changes they did go through from Reek to Heartwork.

After listening to it for a while it's really grown on me and I think it's a great album. I also got to see Carcass and Immolation live in NYC about a week ago and I met them, and they're really nice guys. Both bands are great live, also.

Got my physical copy a week ago.

Unfortunately I have to agree with those who feel a very clean production. In fact it is so :(

I love the album. Great album. The clean production really doesn't bother me with this album. I think it suits the album even in a way.
I have to say I have the album on vinyl and it's mastered different on vinyl. So maybe it's less clean or somthing? Maybe someone with both versions could hear the differences?

Going to see hem nov. 8. Can't wait.

The video for Unfit for Human Consumption premiered today, introduced by Kirk Hammett of all people.

It's pretty goddamn ridiculous with all the obvious, poor effects, but Ken Owen's in it looking like a crazy horror movie doctor, so that balances it out a bit.

Yeah, the video is mediocre and lame. Jeff looks retarded and the whole "lascerated limbs" shit looks awful. Kirk is cool, anyone saying otherwise should die, even If i hate his guitar playing nowadays.

I like the video. Could have done without the close-ups of Jeff's face and the repetitive shots of the surgical instruments. But the concept is good. At the end they should have revealed Jeff's head to be decapitated though.

Ken's great. He still looks like a young Jeffrey Combs.
