OK, just came across two different versions of Bathory's song Dies Irae on YouTube.

Version 1: Very bassy, very powerful.

Version 2: A little more thin and weak.

They only differ in sound quality.

Can you tell me the sources of both examples? Is the 1st version off of a Blood Fire Death remaster, maybe?

Version 1:

Version 2:

I'm asking because I want to buy a copy of Blood Fire Death, but want the sound quality of the 1st version.

My version (CD) of Blood Fire Death is from "Kraze" and looks like an obvious bootleg, possesses the EXTREMELY thin sound. Truth be told I've kind of grown to like it though. Bad resolution on the (off-center) cover image, no liner notes/lyrics, and sketchy sound...you're gonna want to look for the "Black Mark" edition.

I have the shitty Kraze version and an Under One Flag pressing, and the latter sounds WAY better. Nowadays it shouldn't be too hard to get the Black Mark one, though.

As far as I know the Kraze editions of Bathory albums have a shitty sound. Go for Black Mark or Under One Flag if possible.

I too have the kraze CD version and the sound does blow. I have the Black Mark vinyl though so I don't mind. :)

First one sounds more like the remaster. Second one sounds more closer to the original pressing which I have.

I used to have the albums as remasters but they sounds like shit so I pursued down the original pressings. They sounds so much better and the originals also have correct track indexes.
