I can see how ENKC would enjoy those albums. I think that American Soldier is not as terrible as you guys make it out to be. It's a mediocre album.

So, Tate's apparently tried to attack the other members of Queensryche with a knife after they were planning to get rid of him. Looks like the band's on its very last legs, which pleases me because they can finally stop sullying the name of the 'ryche with such shitty, shitty music.

The other members posted on Facebook that they are not allowed to use Queensryche's website or Facebook page to promote Rising West.

According to the Rising West Facebook, they (Michael Wilton and co.) have been banned from promoting RW on the Queensryche Facebook and web site. Despite that I agree that Queensryche should have called it a day a long time ago, its always a shame to see a 30 year old friendship disintigrate over Facebook and a knife wielding bald man that wears mascara.

EDIT: Dammit.

I second this motion. Some quick googling reveals nothing.

Sarcasm aside, I really don't understand how someone can only be a fan of the self-titled EP and not enjoy The Warning or Rage for Order. I mean, yeah, Operation: Mindcrime does show more guitar hooks and less aggression, but it's still an undeniable gem. And the first two full-length releases are still stylistically-similar to the EP, although more on the progressive side. I guess if you're not into progressive metal, I can understand. But the EP isn't that much less different from The Warning in style.

The debut EP is very cool I agree on that but I never understood how it is so outstanding (especially compared to everything else that was done at the time) that it outshines everything the band did afterwards. Roads to Madness alone destroys the damn thing if you ask me!

The Warning is clearly better than the EP. More developed and nuanced, with better riffs and more interesting vocal lines. The EP has no song as masterful as En Force or Before the Storm (unless you count Prophecy, but that was added later and written for The Warning anyway, hah).

Hmm. Interesting post from Miranda Tate. The plot thickens...

Is it true that the other members of Queensryche started writing again for Dedicated to Chaos?

Tate, Mustaine, Portnoy and... I dunno, Newstead? Should totally form a supergroup. Victims in the right, with chips on their shoulders! It'd either be the angriest or whiniest thing in metal.

I don't know what to make of this. One camp says one thing and the other says another thing. However you slice it, it's difficult to see the band recovering from here and finding a way of continuing together under the Queensryche name. In that case I'll be following Geoff's solo career and Rising West.

Also, how long did Parker Lundgren's marriage last? Five minutes?

It's true in that Scott Rockenfield co-wrote five songs on Dedicated to Chaos and Eddie Jackson co-wrote two. Of course, this doesn't say much as they also got more outside writers than just the usual Jason Slater and Kelly Gray while Michael Wilton didn't contribute a single thing. Yes, having the actual members write a little is certainly a step up from the pretty much nothing that was American Soldier but it doesn't say much to dispel the rumors of their incredibly unstable band dynamic.

Either way, I just want Queensryche to call it a day and am curious to see how Rising West does with some new material. Geoff Tate had his chance and sounds happier as a solo artist anyway...

Rage for order seemed a bit choppy compared to the Warning, i don't know it didn't have 1/10th the songwriting or the memorable songs of the Warning in my opinion. I'm guessing that is where they changed their direction as a band.

I also have enjoyed some of their stuff post-golden years but it's hard to compare that material to classics like The Warning and the s/t EP.

My wishes finally came true! FUCK YES.

Just imagine how Todd La Torre feels; within about a year, he's gone from being a relatively no name player to being a member of both Crimson Glory and Queensryche. Holy shit.

I don't honestly see this resulting in anything that decent. I would probably say that this new QR (as a writing unit) will have no idea and we'll end up with their version of Death Magnetic - a whole heap of old tricks thrown together badly. But in saying that, the stuff that Tate (I assume) has been writing for them the last 2-3 albums really, really needed to go, so ANYTHING'S an improvement from here.

The fact that they're playing En Force is enough for me to get excited for this, but I'm still anxious to see how some new material works out without the main writers involved. A lot of people seem to be skeptical of the whole thing but it certainly worked for Stratovarius. Good riddance, Tate!

I'm glad this happened. Tate sucks, and Queensryche hasn't been relevant in, what, twenty years? Maybe these dudes will make something great; I'm keeping an ear open for more news.

After all, it doesn't get much worse than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46e7BCRRiK8

Shitting in a bag and recording it is a step-up from American Solider and Dedicated to Chaos. Todd seems like the real deal though. The band seems to be in touch with their older stuff too, so maybe we'll get something good. Just gotta wait and see.

Okay, this is great news and all, but there's just one thing... what's going to happen to Rising West now that they're all going as Queensryche (again)?

I mean, if they're not interested in retaining the name, I think I'm going to have to save the project.

Let it be thus known: RISING WEST is now a Ribos solo outfit!
