So the new MGLA has arrived, and I've had my first listen today.

It does not disappoint!

You can expect trademark Mgla riffing, but this time with a little more underlying rhythm. More intricate drumming and the greater amount of tracks offer a nice amount of dynamic in the songwriting.

There's a sample that's been up for a while, listen here http://www.hatepropaganda.org/mgla/mgla_whtn.mp3

CD is out and vinyl is expected later this month. Support!

It's great. Not too much of a departure from the blueprint of Groza, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The production is great and very even throughout. Only i wished the guitar solo/harmony parts were turned up a bit more. Like on "III" the guitar towards the end could have been dialed in a little louder. A bit of a step back from Groza but otherwise, this is Mgla doing what they do best.

I, III, and VII are great but the rest are meh. Quite a step down from Groza imo. Groza was pretty much perfect though, so I guess it's inevitable.

You know, I have to say that Groza was a disappointment to me. The songs that were released before on EPs and splits were stuffed with majestic riffs that spewed forth nothing but beautiful melodies. On Groza however, everything seemed stripped down and simplified, and on top of that the songs, especially I and IV, were a little too long.

But this, this album is everything Groza should have been. The album is filled with the riffs that were lacking on Groza, and the production sound enhances even more the sound and atmosphere of the overall album. The bass sound (my god that bass sound!) is what really shines in this department. The bass just sounds fucking evil and ominous. A good example of this is the section in VI that starts at about the 1:53 mark. The bass in that section is just doomy as fuck!

I did however feel that the mixing was little off on some places, as some one else has mentioned. The drums were too high in certain sections to the point that the riffs were drowned out. Two examples of this is the very first blast beat section of I, and the very beginning of V when the guitars first kick in. But other than that, this album is everything I expected from Mgla. An album filled with riffs, riffs, and more riffs that went very well together, and presenting very well an excellent atmosphere that is filled with sadness and anger.

As you can see, I greatly enjoyed this album. Perhaps it's because it makes up for the disappointment that Groza was to me.

Never heard of this band before, but I enjoyed the sample OP provided. Where should I begin with them?

I'd start with Presence, personally. It has a good mix of his songwriting styles and I think is his best release so far.

Actually, yeah, pretty much just this.

No, I like Groza too. I admit it occasionally loses a bit of steam, but for the most part it's pretty great.

Waiting for my copy to arrive. According to the sample, this is gonna be supreme album. I really like how much heavier it is compared to previous releases, just like latest Kriegsmaschine songs (i wonder when they're gonna release new album...). Groza was a disappointment for me too. Its not a bad album but just felt really bland compared to the rest of MGLA.

With Hearts Toward None is the first I've heard from Mgla. I'm loving it so far, I especially like the drumming and fills. Really driving and pretty inventive at times, but never in a distracting way. It's interesting seeing all the mixed reactions from this thread. Everything they've done seems to draw an equally amount of praise and disappointment.

Does anyone know where I can order this in the U.S. for a decent price?

I don't know, but I hope to get it at Messe des Morts! Best black metal album of the year in my opinion. You should come, you're not far from Montréal.

I had to get mine through northern heritage, which isn't cheap but at least you get to chat with Mikko Aspa. Not to mention the album is the catchiest thing released all year so paying an extra $4 over the usual isn't that hard to live with.

Super stoked to see them in a month.

With Hearts Toward None is probably one of the better black metal releases this year. I'm not terribly fussed on Groza either, but Presence is great.

I was looking at this, but wasn't how to & if it was possible to order. It says "Poland only" under releases and there is no order form. I sent them a message.

If you are in the US & looking for this CD keep checking HHR & Ominous Domain. They have both stocked it several times already, so I would think it will just be a short amount of time before they get more in.

I honestly wish they released more merchandise. It's hard to get Mgła merch in the states. I found some shirts online but I guess they haven't released anything besides that.

There will be a new batch of shirts mid November.
