From the official site:http://www.burzum.org/eng/news.shtml

Burzum persists. A new Burzum album, titled "Umskiptar" (Metamorphoses), is scheduled for release in May 2012 on Byelobog Productions. "Umskiptar" consists of 65 minutes of skaldic metal, recorded in Grieghallen Studio in Bergen in September 2011.

Damn, Varg's on a roll. I look forward to hearing this, having enjoyed 'Fallen' (still haven't heard 'Belus').

Great news.... The thing that caught my eye right off the bat was that AWESOME cover art. It looks fantastic. That'd be worth getting an LP version.

Skaldic metal? WTF?
Looking forward to this, Belus and Fallen were good. I'm way more excited by the new Azaghal full-length, though.

His book is not selling.

Might just buy this for that awesome cover choice, and I like Burzum. I'll wait and see.

Definitely gonna pick this up. I really enjoyed both Belus and Fallen, as well as his album of re-recordings.

That cover looks stunning. I agree would look amazing on Vinyl can't find anywhere to pre-order it yet seems Varg is ahead of Plastic Head this time around.

Another melodramatic, romantic cover art. I think it would be better without the two people. What are they doing there, dreaming about fairyland?

I love this board but I'm fucking tired of everyone ejaculating every time someone puts a tree on an album cover.

Chill out dude. Some people like it, some don't....

Does anyone know if this art is from a painting? Varg has used sections of various artworks for most of his album covers.... If the same is true for this I would very much like to know the name of the original painting.

By inserting image url into Google Search (a relatively new method for finding images): the artist is Thomas Fearnley, painting is Slindebirken (1839).

So I guess you don't need hand crafted album artwork when you can just put a tree on it.

varg's been pretty damn consistent since he got out. i'll be getting this for sure.
so good to see an 'older' artist still churning out quality, rather than promising the world and then delivering absolute bullshit.

This ties into my disdain for artists who make simple album covers. Being an artist myself it really bother my that the album cover is just a plain ol' tree.

'Just a plain ol' tree'? I'm seeing more than just a tree in that painting. Even if that's all there were, the tree is very well done, and the coloring as well.

Wow Varg is consistent. I wish a band who I currently like more was this consistent.

Agreed with those not impressed by the cover art selection. It's a nice landscape, but it's not special. Metal albums demand a bit more style or flair...

I think it's a pretty epic looking tree. Reminds me of the big tree in Whiterun.

Some album arts make good use of a tree - hell, my favorite part of Heritage by Opeth is the album art. Though, the music itself was a bit boring...

My favorite is the tree in the middle of Lumikuuro by Kauan. Reminds me of a snowstorm... in October. Just like the one we had this past October.

Please. Maybe the first three albums...

I must be in the minority here, as I found both Belus and Fallen to be stunningly mediocre. Think I'll pass...

Opinions, opinions....

I still believe his early incarnation of Burzum (up to and including Filosofem) to be both more relevant and much better than what he is peddling now. I consider the early works to be far from mediocre.

This is great news. 2012 just keeps on getting better for metal. Fallen was enjoyable, and I have no doubt that this will be a quality release as well.

I greatly enjoyed Belus and Fallen, so I'm definitely looking forward to this album. Hopefully it's more similar to Fallen than Belus.

Seriously, another one? I still need to wrap my head around Fallen!

Eh, I'll probably check this one out. Belus and Fallen haven't blown my minds but they've been pretty good.

Same here. The album art is better than those 2 albums though. But I doubt the music'll be that good.

This is so fast, i don't even listened completely the ''Fallen'' album. That cover art makes me think more of Folk Metal than Black Metal.
