Brilliant. I'm getting a real "Tome of Eternal Darkness" vibe off that image, which is always a good thing.

First I got the impression of a giant obsidian cube being hammered down, hence the title. Then I looked closer and looks like it's a book unleashing all sorts of hellish daemonry.

I dig it. Better than going with expectedly more obvious imagery. In fact, much of Asphyx's artwork has that type of consistency to it if memory serves. It doesn't hit you over the head like a...

...chair.

Damn, that is a really killer cover art. Reminds me of the Necronomicon, a little. Really cool. I haven't listened to "Death, The Brutal Way" yet, but anything involving Martin van Drunen seems to be really killer, so I have faith in this.

I don't like the cover too much, but I can't wait to get the new album.

That's an awesome cover. I wonder if they're aware of the Norwegian thrash band called Deathhammer.

I don't know really, nothing he has been involved in is as good as Malleus Maleficarum - if you're going to own any van Drunen album, it's that one. I do like the cover of this album though, it's by no means a classic cover, can't really think of any recent covers that are though.

Totally stoked!!! Love this band they can't do any wrong in my opinion.

New cover art is a great mixture of Last One on Earth, The Rack and Crush the Cenotaph. Much better visual than Death... The Brutal Way, even though that record in itself is very good.

I like "The Rack" more, it's so dirty and primitive, but the vocals and guitars are ridiculously good.

This cover is great. Newer Asphyx is still pretty good, I really cant complain about Death the brutal way.

I am definitely going to be looking into this new release.

Though I'm seriously warming to Asphyx - listening to 'Death The Brutal Way' right now - let's get 'Deathhammer' released and done so we can get on to some more Hail Of (fucking) Bullets!!! :D

I think i'm the only person on the planet who didn't like Death... The Brutal Way and Hail Of Bullets.

First three Pestilence albums are classic. As is The Last One On Earth.

Why are we talking about Pestilence?

I liked Death...The Brutal Way. It is probably Asphyx's weakest, lacking the subtlety of their previous stuff, but was solid stuff.

You're not the only one.
Death...The Brutal Way I found pretty mediocre at best...the only song I massively enjoyed was Scorbutics.

I'll still take a look at this release though.

An album cover from 22 years ago is a "recent" example?

I'll probably check this album out. Cool cover, likely cool music.

Cover looks great, really looking forward to this one. I did enjoy the last album but, like me, would any of you guys wish to see a return of Eric Daniels, I fuckin loved his guitar tone and his HUGE palm muted rhythms, they seemed to have lost this quite a bit when he was replaced. The Rack & Last One... will prob always be their best material in my eyes.

If you serioulsy have not listened to this release before Ozzy, do so, it is a great slab of death metal, Martin V D is brutal on it, fuckin love all his work tbh.

Pestilence hated that cover. It was chosen by the record company (without them knowing it) after the original artwork got lost. I think it's fucking ugly to be honest. Those green borders and a silly face with ants all over it? What the fuck...

I first listened to it back in 2006. I do like the album, but I agree with Horus that the artwork is corny and ugly.

Edit to STORRM: My bad for sentence placement. I meant the cool cover was for the newest album.

I don't like modern album art. If I made music I would have something classic on my album art. P
The logo with the band name would be in black and white.
Sort of like this:

However, i think many band has good covers.
I like the sargen pepper cove rby the beatles, where all is standing facing the grave. It's scary.

With a song title like that, this has to be a 10-minute epic. Goddamn. Really looking forward to this album. That artwork is unreal.

No it's not! There is nothing "cool" about mammoths or elephants or dolphins or monkey's.
Especially not the magmatic varieties....
