Esoteric - Epistemological Despondency
Esoteric - The Pernicious Enigma

:-D

Fucking awesome. My two favorite Esoteric albums, I also really love the cover art, particularly on The Pernicious Enigma. I've actually been thinking of purchasing The Pernicious Enigma, but right now on Aesthetic Death it says it's sold out.

Here are two of my Recent purchases:

Elysian Blaze - Blood Geometry
and
Skepticism - Lead and Aether

Not for long though... :p

Great scores by the way.

Haha, thanks. Sometimes eBay will yield some crazy steals...

Yeah, I believe they've both been out of print for a while now (since the 2004 reissue). Finding Pernicious for less than thirty or so can be a hassle, so I suggest you wait for a decent auction like I did. Also, yes, the albums rule.

Inquisition (not the black metal band) - Revolution? I think it's called Inspiration

The original band of Thomas Barnett of Strike Anywhere. Obviously not as cleanly recorded, but thats to be expected. Still very melodic and passionate hardcore.

Fear - The Record - Great old school punk. Took me too long to find out about these guys, I've been into old school punk for ages.

Midnight - Satanic Royalty - Yet another new(er) band with old school tendencies a la Venom/Motorhead. This shit has been done to death but still never gets old for me. He's also from my neck of the woods! His approach is also a lot more honest compared to some of the retro bands. Dirty as hell, like it should be.

Usually due to bonus tracks and better packaging, but I think I've gone full-retard mode and just prefer Japanese pressings period. Sometimes they get earlier release dates too (like the new Hibria, and with my luck, it'll probably suck ) They're usually collectable, and in some rare cases, I can get them at the same price or cheaper than Euro imports. Canada's dollar is also doing pretty good vs the Yen (I would NOT have been doing this 2 years or so ago).

Yeah, if I can spare the money, I'll almost always opt for the version of an album with bonus material. Any bonus tracks on that JPN Hibria release?

"Silent Revenge" has "Bleeding on My Regrets" as a bonus (the AFM version due in late July has a different bonus track: Shall I Keep On Burning? (Acoustic))

"Blind Ride" has "Gonna Live Until I Die" (Frank Sinatra cover) as a bonus

"The Skull Collectors" has "Screaming Ghost" (Demo version) as a bonus

You're lucky. A Japanese import in a store here costs over 30€, and I'm not even counting the shipping if I were to buy them myself! Jap versions are pretty cool, especially those limited set boxes they make, and they're usually worth a good amount of doe after a few years. You can also find cool stuff on Jap pressings that aren't available anywhere else. Think the Isis edition of the early EPs on a 2CD edition, or Pelican's debut with their first EP on the same disc. Those are just a few examples.

The new MDB is actually pretty killer. I had only heard Turn Loose The Swans prior to the new one. My assumption is that they ended up like Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Anathema, etc... looks like I put my foot in my mouth with that assumption!
