Anyone lucky enough to be able to see them? I definitely will be attending (ah the perks of living in NYC)

For those who have listened to Immortal's entire discography, what songs do you think they'll play?

I haven't heard everything but I'm sure there set will include:

Call of the wintermoon
Blashyrkh (mighty ravendark)
Grim & Frostbitten Kingdoms
Sons of Northern Darkness
In my Kingdom Cold

I hope they'll play Withstand the Fall of Time and Beyond the North Waves, as well as One by One. The Call of the Wintermoon or (less likely) A Perfect Vision of the Rising Northland would also be nice additions to an Immortal set.

i cant picture them playing call of the wintermoon. if they did, everyone would start running around like gorillas and peeking their heads out at each other from the side of the stage. do they play much before at the heart of winter?

i entered a contest to win tix for one of the shows, but later found out it doesn't include air travel. fuck that noise yo.

When I saw them in 07 they didn't play Call of the Wintermoon and I don't remember them playing anything from Pure Holocaust either.

I'll be at the Montreal show since I'm going there from Calgary for spring break for my birthday. I can't wait, it will be my first ever Black Metal show.
Does anyone know who the support acts are?

I'll also be there on the Montréal show. The opening act is called "Superior Enlightenment". It's a new band. They didn't release anything yet, but some people say they are good. I personally think it's a bit similar to Utlagr, but more progressive.

don't drink and type! if you do, you will get caught.

and somebody should bring Abbath some spinach to eat before the set, that way he can increase his Popeye-ness.

Yeah the set list will obviously be different from when I saw them in 2007 but from what I can remember, nothing was played from Pure Holocaust and I can only think as more time goes past that you'll have less of a chance of Pure Holocaust material.

Here's a setlist from September 2009 (I wasn't there, just found this on google):

The Sun No Longer Rises
Withstand the Fall of Time
Solarfall
Sons of Northern Darkness
Tyrants
One by One
Damned in Black
Wrath from Above
Unholy Forces of Evil
Unsilent Storms in the North Abyss
At the Heart of Winter
Battles in the North
Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark)

I'd say that's a decent amount of old stuff, and opening with The Sun No Longer Rises and Withstand the Fall of Time (my two favourite Immortal songs) is just amazing. Anyway, their upcomming setlists will probably be different, and it'll be interesting to see what All Shall Fall songs they play.

I'd say that's a damn good set. If I had my way, they could shave off at least one All Shall Fall song to include something from either the first album or Damned in Black. Still, Withstand the Fall of Time and Beyond the North Waves back-to-back would be incredible.

Well about the Medley thing, i picked this set list on another site..so maybe its not accurate as this other guy said:

''I don't think it was a medley though. Considering A Sign For The Norse Hodes To Ride is about 2 and half and Pure Holocaust is 5 minutes i think they just played them right after the other, cause it seemed like a pretty long song.''

Anyway. Its all about Montreal tonight.

The hell are you talking about? Medleys are a great idea, as far as I'm concerned. Or at least have potential to be.

I'm gonna see them in June, at Graspop Metal Meeting. Tragedies Blow at Horizon would be awesome.

that set list looks nice, and of course they play no Call of the Wintermoon. i seriously doubt they could play that song without cracking up about it.

Yeah and they can put chest high walls on stage, so all the band members can take turns popping up from behind them.

The setlist tonight was similar to the one posted for Toronto, though not in the same order. And still no At the Heart of Winter, which was my biggest disappointment. Otherwise a solid if expensive show.

What a disappointing setlist. The All Shall Fall stuff is snore worthy and only one song from Battles in the North. ONE!

i wish they would play frozen by ice winds, and the sun no longer rises.

frozen by ice winds is my favorite pure H. song, that opening section is the best thing immortal has ever done IMO. its so... amazing.

The fact that Immortal only plays shows in New York and California, completely ignoring the rest of the United States, fucking infuriates me.

how can they turn their backs on pure H. like this? its pretty much their undisputed best album.

i used to like heart of winter the most, then battles in the north, now for the longest time, i have realized the greatness that is pure holocaust. everything just melds together so well, the mood is perfect, abbath's voice is perfect, the volume of specific instruments are perfect, and everything just buzzes together perfectly to be the perfect soundtrack to imagining being in the middle of a frozen landscape, blinded with ice winds blowing into your face, with all you can see is white.

I'm 4-5 hours from both montreal and new york, however i'm not seeing them because i'll catch them in germany anyway, however there's plenty of bands i wanted to see play only west coast or texas shows, or do midwest tours. East coast gets ignored a lot lately.

I've been to the Montréal concert and it was great! That being said, they didn't even come back or play an encore at the end of the show after the crowd chanted their name for 5 minutes... I thought that was somewhat rude.
