Okay, I HAD to make this post because I just started listening to Anal Blasphemy's "Masturbation on Jehovah's Altar" and the main melody to the verse is the melody from "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas."

This is the most surreal moment I've experienced... ahh there it goes again!! dreaming of a whiiiiiiite christmassssssss

The Ahhh ah ah ah part of Septic Flesh's Communion reminds me of that meow mix commercial jingle for some reason.

The Crown's "Speed Of Darkness" has that section that reminds me of the theme song from Knight Rider, if anyone else remembers that.

A couple of Bathory songs remind me of "O Come Ye Merry Gentlemen"

Vinterblot at about :53

I can't find the other one right now, but it's on Twilight of the Gods, and I know it is more similar than Vinterblot. I'll edit later when I find it.

Also, the Song Hammerheart if based on Jupiter of The Planets Suite

Dusk and Her Embrace by Cradle of Filth also sounds a lot like the meow mix jingle at one point. As if it weren't weird enough that one band did it.

Wladimir's March by Vlad Tepes sounds so much like When Johnny Comes Marching Home it's not even funny.

Also, the intro to Dispatched's Motherwar album has a little guitar noodling that always reminds me of Yankee Doodle.

The solo on Satan's Host's 'Hell Fire' reminds me of the Ecco the Dolphin (MegaCD) soundtrack. Which lead me to the thought that perhaps Ecco the Dolphin would've been even better if Ecco was voiced by Harry Conklin.

Edit: Just checked, and it's the soundtrack to the Open Ocean level. Compare:
1:45-1:55 from the SH song.
Open Ocean: here.
There is some similarity, though I found it quite notable to first time I was listening to that SH song.

Iron Maiden - Another Life

The middle part sounds very hardcore punk like Discharge or somehing like that.

not that weird at all, because the main melody to Communion has been taken from that very song ;)

There's a part in Nightwish's "The Siren" where Tarja Turunen sings in this deep, thick vibrato that reminds me of Lisa Gerrard'd half of Dead Can Dance.

Danzig reminds me of Elvis sometimes, only because of the vocals....

..the ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah!

What a great way to begin that split. :)

In the album version of Ved Buens Ende's "You, That May Wither", the band suddenly drops into this major key blues progression with a shuffling beat behind it. Even though the chords are held for only half the length, the bass plodding under the guitars coupled with that swingin' Car-Michael drum beat totally makes me think of Fats Domino's "Blueberry Hill". The song itself is so delerious and mad-seeming that this actually manages to sound really cool.

Edit; Jormungandr, I think the Bathory song from Twilight whose name you didn't recall is "Blood and Iron". I noticed that right away when I first got the album; it kind of spoiled my enjoyment of the song as the way Quorthon sings it is boring as hell.

Strangely enough

the beginning part and ending guitar solo parts of Wildfire's "Gun Runner"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q5MIa0A ... re=related
sound like the chorus to Duran Duran's "The Wild Boys"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33ujfNFyetw
both songs came out in 1984

the intro and middle part to Elixir's "Star of Beshaan"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0ELr8pZvV4
sounds like New Model Army's "The Hunt"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIzlrdcw9_s
both songs seem to have come out in 1986

Metallica covered the song "Writing on the Wall" by The Threats. It's on their "Demo and Rarities" album.

I don't know the specific Metallica song since I'm not a fan but I'm sure others will instantly notice. I wonder if Metallica earning millions have ever payed a dime. Maybe it's on the liner notes I don't know, just recognised it today.

It's more like they got their entire sound from this punk band and took their song as well...

At 40 seconds you'll hear Metallica. This song already appears on The Threats demo from 1980 or 1981.

Iron Maiden - Total Eclipse, bonus song on Number of the Beast at 2:38 sounds so much like Mercyful Fate. When I first heard this I thought maybe they had MF doing a guest solo.

Good call, especially considering the sudden tempo change... but how does Mercyful Fate qualify as non-metal? ;)

The beginning of Human Hopes by Darkestrah sounds like some 80's synthpop tune.

Same for me. Heard that intro at a concert of theirs and I thought of that same meow mix commercial.

Ah ah ah uh ah ah ah uh ah ah ah ah Ah ah ah uh!

Meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow...

Identical tunes

This is hilarious! Did it ever cross the guitarist's mind? Funny how you can take a song like that and make it sound so depressive and grim.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between

Disembowelment- Your Prophetic Throne of Ivory

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia05DNe9Yoc

The Velvet Underground- Venus in Furs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwzaifhSw2c

Evokes a same kind of atmosphere as well!

Also I'll thrown in the obligatory mention of "Pure Holocaust" and "The Death March", which I think is all too obvious to be a coincidence, not to mention brilliant!

I sort of hear the resemblance, but it doesn't have more than unsettling strings in common, IMO.

However, I had never listened to that dISEMBOWELMENT song before, and I thoroughyle njoyed it.

the beginning of Einherjer - "Ingen Grid" always reminds me of something from The Princess Bride

(as an aside, has there ever been any song written about that movie, seems like prime fodder for a power metal band...or how about Legend?)

So on the new Heathen, the song Control by Chaos, the vocal patterns remind me of the theme song to "Fresh Prince." Yeah.... anyone else agree?
