I was reading some entry's looking into bands and found this quote.

"Igric is a part of U.B.M.R. along with Perterricrepus, Karpathia, Concubia Nocte, Sirin. "

My interest peaked, what the hell is U.B.M.R.?

I hope this doesn't double-post, as Metal Archives is running worse than crap at the moment.

U.B.M.R. stands for Underground Black Metal Resistance and is a circle of Slovak pagan/black metal bands. The ones I'm familiar with (I own releases of Concubia Nocte, Karpathia, Sirin, and Perterricrepus) are raw, melodic black metal with some symphonic (mostly Karpathia), ambient (Perterricrepus) and folk influences. There also seems to be a Pan-Aryanist leaning to the circle (for instance, Perterricrepus has a series of songs called "The Aryan Pantheon."

They make reference to U.B.M.R. on their releases, but the biggest clues I've found about them are on the Concubia Nocte CD tray:

"Underground Black Metal Resistence is a Unity of Black Metal Bands dedicated to the Goal of Self Advancement through conscious Effort and Will by regaining Lost Virtues and Values."

"We bow to no construct of Reason - Idea, we have chosen the Path of Will - to create.
The Battlefield where we create is Music.
The Struggling and Advancement in the Process of Creation is the Reflection of the Struggling and Advancement in our Lives.
The same Will to carry on is the Banner that unites us.
By Sword of Willpower and Strength and Shield of Virtues we shall struggle.
And we shall struggle with Joy..."

There are a fair few of these underground black metal circlejerk societies in love with their own secret obscurity.

I won't disagree with that.

The LLN (Les Légions Noires) is the most notable group of the kind that Beast mentioned and the U.B.M.R. just seems to be the same kind of thing. I don't think your gonna get much more information. These groups are generally quite secretive, to build a sense of mystery around them and their music. Doesn't mean they are anything special; like other bands, they may be great, crap or somewhere in between.

Black metal "circles" are basically just a group of friends who play in each others bands, and who are sufficiently narcissistic and pseudo-intellectual enough to decree that they together form some sort of philosophical masturbation group. I would've said circlejerk, but I don't want to steal The_Beast_in_Black's thunder.
