How large/extensive is the metal scene in Serbia (specifically the capital, Belgrade)? I'm going to be living there for three years next year and I'd like to know how big metal is there.

MA says there are currently 46 active bands in Belgrade at the moment. You could probably add another 20 for bands who aren't on MA. Add in the fact that the Balkan countries are all fairly close together geographically (well, compared to Australia at least) I think you can be fairly certain that you'll find a good amount of metalheads there.

Quite large. Lots of thrash stuff, quite a few black metal bands as well. The scene in the Balkans contains a few gems, however it also has more than its fair share of generic bands.

Check out the band Pero Defformero from Novi Sad.They play heavy/thrash/prog metal with typical turbofolk vocals and lyrics,but unlike most turobofolk parody bands,they do have stuff that isn't there only for laugh.
