a question about the album 'Salvation',
is it me,or are the sound clips throughout trippy and vague?
i could swear there is more to this than just sounds. it stirs up some atmosphere of strange. just thoughts to ponder, if anyone here has noticed this.

I...mean...sure.

I'm not quite positive in what you're suggesting here, is it that the sound clips and samples are more than just trippy and vague? If so, then I would definietly agree with you. Listen to "In Manus Tuas" or "Circle of Eyes" and the entirety of the samples are relevant and pertinent to the messages and sound of the songs. Plus, it adds to the sort of creeping serpentine atmosphere created by the album.

not to speak of suggestions or anything, just of what the hell happens to my mind every time i hear 'circle of eyes' or 'breathing wounds'. not a huge fan of the other projects the guy involves in, but this cd has caught me by frantic daily thoughts. nothing does that too well, for i am attempting to understand people and the artistic state of thinking.
as for suggestions, 'NOXBC9701040' by Esoteric; the Pernicious Enigma...

The samples used as intros and stuff with Funeral Mist actually annoy me quite a bit. I would prefer they never used them.

I agree with Bread To Stone and especially Sun of Hope. I really cant stand the really low pitched and high pitched human vocals together. It just sounds dated and very unsettling... pretty much like in every movie from 1950 and earlier.

I guess people back then would say the same about Funeral Mist, but I hate that style of singing either way.

Gee, you don't think that could be the point, do you?

I generally like both unsettling and harsh music but, but Funeral Mist is just too grating. Me listening to it would be masochism.

The best sound clip is in Anathema on the song Blessed Curse. Awesome song, it sounds like the end of the world

I'd like to know from which movie does the sample in Sun of Hope come. I've heard the same sample in two other bands, Lacrymae Rerum and some other I can't remember.

Edit: just took a look at the last.fm page, someone answered it there. It's from The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman, if anyone is curious.

Not long ago I was priveleged to view a Swedish silent film called The Phantom Carriage (originally billed as Körkarlen) and was pleasantly surprised to recognize parts of the score as the musical sample at the end of In Manus Tuas. I think having this and the Bergman film as a reference adds a great visual element while listening to the album.
