Haha, I love the last Lemmy quote!

Also, I believe it's Dave Mustaine who said something like:

"If you're going to throw beer bottles at us, at least make sure they're full."

The last quote is pure wisdom. I never got why we need to suddenly respect someone because they're not alive. Certainly, you don't go talking shit about somebody to their loved ones right after this person has died. That's just a shitty thing to do. But, that doesn't mean we should just ignore a persons flaws and faults.

As much as I love Quorthon, he was such a fucking liar, he specifically stated in an interview that they started out really influenced by Motorhead and punk but after listening to a "certain Newcastle band" in the late '80s they decided to play faster and have more Satanic lyrics. Wow I wonder what band that could be possibly be.

(I realize this doesn't contribute but it's just a comment/statement.)

But...He also played in Death. Any comments saying Gene Hogland is untalented are now null and void.

This whole topic reminds me of the Nordic Metal compilation (Tribute to Euronymous), and some of the absolute insane (sometimes amusing, sometimes absolutely dense in nature) quotes from the inlay. I'll share some with the board, for the uninitiated:

- "So many bands are writing to me, saying they want to start a Black Metal band. I always say 'Don't do it'. I tell them we don't need more bands, we need terrorists." - Euronymous, '93

"When Dead blew his brains off, it was the greatest act of promotion he ever did for us. It's always great when someone dies, it doesn't matter who. If you think we are emotional idiots with human feelings, you're WRONG!!!!!" - Euronymous in 1993, shortly before 1-upping Dead and committing an even greater act of promotion for Mayhem by getting stabbed

"I live and breathe for the day I will meet Euronymous' murderer!" - Bard Faust, around the time of this album's release. Over 10 years later, the murderer and Bard are out of prison. So what's the hold-up?

Hell, I like Mayhem, but some of the things said shortly before and after Oystein Aarseth's death were just over-the-top that anyone who looked at it and took it that seriously didn't get the memo that none of these guys were truly as "evil" as they wanted to be seen as, and even Per (Dead) more than likely committed suicide due to isolation, depression and some form of mental illness rather than "for Mayhem!"

I'm sure Vince McMahon could turn this into a pay-per-view event.

As big a legacy he left, Euronymous was probably one of the biggest assholes in metal. You don't see people like Ihsahn or Abbath discouraging other musicians like that.

Wasn't that said in the filmed interview where he was talking with a British accent? I think that was part of his joke statement.

the best thing about that interview was not dunn and necrobutcher, but rune almost plucking out his mustache and nearly curling into a fetal position...

I love this one:

No one quote in this vid is all that quoteworthy but the whole thing is pretty amusing. Especially "I have recognized you for who you are and therefore I hate you...ooh I hate you."

Off the Live Undead live album:

"They say the pen is mightier than the pen. I say fuck the pen, 'cause you can DIIIIE BY THE SWOOORD." - Tom Araya

Obviously just introducing the song, no depth to this quote, but I like it.

Otherwise, this statement (or vulgar joke maybe?) is much seamier in Czech language. Unfortunately, I am not able to express it in English exactly, which is pitty.

"Tak se všichni userte, je tady Debustrol."

I think I still may have the Metal Maniacs magazine that was released right after Chuck Schuldiner died where they had this quote of Chuck (in the historical recap of Death) saying something like

"I'm proud that I haven't gotten a drug addiction or became an alcoholic and shot myself like Kurt Cobain. I'm sorry, I value my life and music more than that."

I have it at least half right, it was something like that. I'll look it up in the mag. bundle when I get off my ass.

I love some of the quotes from that random interview with David Vincent from Morbid Angel.

Interviewer: While you were there, did you eat some lemon pie?
David Vincent: (WTF FACE) Umm... no I dont like sweets.

If you haven't seen it you have too, the interview covers everything from microwaves to the Goo Goo Dolls.

That David Vincent interview is gold.

But I am going with another Dave Mustaine quote:
"Don't listen to anything anyone ever tells you to do unless their right."

lol.

And also, even though it's not metal, there is this interview with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum you must see, it's hilarious
