Steve Grimmett is my sole reason for listening to Grim Reaper and Onslaught.

I'll second (third?) Iced Earth with Ripper Owens. Haven't heard much of their Barlow stuff. The music on The Glorious Burden was very average, and the lyrics were awful, but Ripper can fucking sing.

You're seconding if you're referring to my post. I think Owens is a hack who looks like a King of the Hill character on the album cover to his solo effort.

Everything ICS Vortex has been involved with has been a massive failure (with the exception of Lamented Souls & Borknagar), but the dude has amazing cleans.

Anything Dax Riggs is involved with. I personally don't like his solo stuff or the Deadboy and The Elephantmen material, but Agents Of Oblivion and Acid Bath became two of my favorite bands almost strictly because of his voice.

Shoot me for this, but Solitude Aeturnus. Musically, I'm just hearing standard classic doom metal that gets a little drawn out at some points (although their guitar solos are ace material on Alone). Robert Lowe's vocals, however, and incredible. The guy has an incredible trained voice, but he can use that to his advantage and just belt it out while not sounding too polished. His vocal prowess single-handedly took the cake on the band's last album.

I have to say Amorphis. I listened to a few songs off Tales From The Thousand Lakes, and I LOVED the growls and cleans! Unfortunately the music failed to leave an impression.

Guttural Engorgement

Their guitars and drums are simple and generic as hell and their production is fairly weak but the singer has without a doubt the sickest fucking deep guttural gorevoice ever! And the best part is that there's no pitchshifter used at all :nods:
You are so very punchable...
What the hell you no like $lams n Gutterals?

Slams and gutturals can be good but Guttural Engorgement (and Drowning In Formaldehyde too) are sub par bands. Infected Malignity, Vomit Remnants, Degrade and Defeated Sanity slam circles around their guttural asses.

Guttural Engorgement has deathcore breakdowns.

Vicious Rumors had some killer albums with Albert though, but that's just my opinion I guess.

I'm talking about Villain and Ruffians, not Vicious Rumors. Vicious Rumors was already kickass.

My bad dude, I'm an idiot, just mis-read your post I guess. Vicious Rumors are the shit.
haha, hell yea dude.

Primal Fear has really trailed off since Black Sun I think. Seven Seals I enjoyed because there were some cool, more original sounding songs on it, but the Devil's Ground and New Religion were weak, Ralf's vocals were definitely below average for him on New Religion. I haven't heard the newest one yet though.

I think Devil's Ground is their best. More mature and less spastic. The older stuff is fun though.

I agree.

I think the music on that album was good, more than just "okay", but Hat's vocals really improve things, I absolutly love the high, putrid, phleghmy vocals like his.

Asphyx. Except for their recent album they're not that great, but Martin sounds like a fucking beast on the first 2 Asphyx albums. His inhuman growls sound really sick.
