I could give you a top 3, which would be

The Writ
Children of the Grave
War Pigs

But after that, my picks would be subject to change. Today, I'd go for

The Thrill of It All
N.I.B

This is the sort of thing that reminds me just how many amazing songs they had.

Yeah, and over three distinct eras with shorter eras between them. This is an impossible task for me. I can maybe name a favourite song from each main era, but that is also subject to change: Symptom of the Universe, Heaven and Hell, When Death Calls. (I should revisit Born Again.)

It’s very difficult for me to rank their songs, but as of today, I’d go with:

1) Heaven and Hell
2) The Writ
3) Under the Sun
4) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
5) Sign of the Southern Cross

Here's some kind of list, off the top of my head. You could probably make five others. Painful to leave songs like Black Sabbath, Into the Void and Headless Cross out.

1. A National Acrobat
2. Wheels of Confusion
3. Hole in the Sky
4. Heaven and Hell
5. Born Again

2) Die Young
3) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
4) Neon Knights
5) Supernaut

Computer God
Into the Void

Hmmm. Very hard to narrow this entire, fantastic discography down, but i THINK I'd have to go with

1. Heaven And Hell
2. Paranoid (I know it's cliche, but fuck, it's great)
3. War Pigs
4. Die Young
5. N.I.B

But yeah, I could blow-up this whole page posting honourable mentions. Would be really interesting to have a poll done for some huge bands like Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, Priest where we did a Top 10 SONGS with a points ranking system.

@BH, whattathink?

1. N.I.B.
2. Electric Funeral
3. Children Of The Grave
4. Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath
5. Megalomania

Falling Off the Edge of the World (some of the most convincing "last song on earth" vibes ever. Monolithic intro. The huge keening riff change under the solo gets me every time.)
Hand of Doom (the whole album's almost perfect, but let's go with this)
Snowblind (the heart of IV--smoky, dreamy longing and melancholy)
Megalomania (a lot of Sabotage is almost too fancy and "prog" for me, but this one balanced those impulses with some real heaviness)
Over and Over (wherein a guitar solo writes a novel, then throws a human tantrum and breaks everything in the room)

In no particular order:

Killing Yourself to Live
Die Young
Into the Void
Fairies Wear Boots
The Writ

I think these could all change for me depending on which day of the week it is. Wishing Well just missed the list because I don't think the verses are quite as strong as the chorus.

Dudes, Warning and Shock Wave are sooooo underrated! :headbang:

I honestly don't think I can narrow it to 5. :ugh:

Very tough to make it five, especially with three really distinct eras of good stuff, but...

Megalomania - a sprawling odyssey of a song, cathartic and moody, with maybe Ozzy's best vocals
NIB - one of their greatest riffs, some of their catchiest hooks
Children of the Grave - this basically was a blueprint for so much of what metal would be - a devastating, pulverizing riff.
Spiral Architect - wonderful atmospheric prog, a light bath in warm water to end the record.
War Pigs - iconic, groovy, heavy and with cool lyrics to boot

I could include like half of each album represented here plus "Heaven & Hell," "Kill in the Spirit World," "Valhalla," "Country Girl"...
