About the Nazi thing, well, aside from their demos which I refuse to listen to ideologically, their other stuff doesn't really have any nazi stuff in it so you can calm him down

That's very interesting to me. Ideologically, you can't listen to the demos because there's "nazi stuff". But if there's not "nazi stuff" and he's still a nazi, it's okay? I don't get it at all. It sounds to me like you avoid the "nazi stuff" because it makes you personally uncomfortable. If it were ideological wouldn't you avoid the guy's work entirely?

That's exactly what I've thought about when I first encountered Peste Noire. I've read in an official interview from the band that the band completely rejects he nazi ideology and they've used the nazi imagery for shock values only. I have avoided Slayer for this same reason before, and I feel a bit guilty listening to Burzum. Should I stop listening to Alcest as well since Niege took part in early Peste Noire, and their previous incarnation too?
EDIT: I am not, and I will never defend a nazi in any possible way. I want this idiotic ideology to go extinct, as well as all the people who commit acts in the name of it. That's the reason I will never listen to Satanic Warmaster, Goatmoon, and the like.

I was just trying to understand where the arbitrary line in the sand is drawn based on "ideology". It seemed more like convenience of comfort. I don't care what you listen to at all, player. I own Arghoslent and Satanic Warmaster stuff. I don't listen to Satanic Warmaster because it kinda sucks, personally.

Half the glory of their first albums, but still twice as good as most albums released after it. 'Anthemic' Impaled Nazarene is almost as good as 'insane Impaled Nazarene'. Absolutely imperative that I spin Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz...next, though.

Walpyrgus- Somewhere Under Summerwind

Simple, catchy, fun as fuck.

The interplay between the drums and the guitar is fantastic, truly feels like the result of years playing togheter

Hahah oh uh...sorry I don't know why I would expect you to know what I have heard and haven't. I actually thought Multiples of Black was better than I expected but yeah I meant the least favorite of their "classic run".

Summoning - Old Mourning's Dawn
Pure majesty, using only a handful of chords/riffs. The keys, programming and atmosphere in general are just fucking unbelievable. Cannot wait for the new one, for nary a false step have these bard's taken.

Varathron - Flowers of my youth Autumn, wonderful melodies and confusing mithology work really well togheter

^ Hey thanks I'll check them out. Always on the hunt for IN-sounding bands. The early stuff is best but I still love their thrashy/punky take on bm. The fact that their music isn't all that technical is a plus in my book, too. Too much tech ruins bm for me. On the opposite spectrum of that, however... NP: Angelcorpse - Christhammer Fuck ya.

Charging the Void by Vektor, live in Athens, Greece of Aug 23rd, 2016. They play beautifully, I would love to see them live someday. They really have shown to be extraordinarily innovative in the thrash metal scene. They deserve all the praise they get.

This is some really good death metal stuff. It's really too bad this band isn't getting talked about. I received the CD in the mail this week, along with the band's shirt. Rotting Obscene are death metal's best kept secret at the moment.

Silent Rapture By: Desultory From: Through Aching Aeons Awesome song, and a kick-ass start to their final album. Here's hoping maybe the come back again in 20 more years with two more this good. This and Counting Our Scars are just stellar collections of music, and it's a pity the band called it quits again after this. Go out in a blaze of glory rather than fade away, eh?

Realm - Final Solution Demo Quite possibly the best demo ever created. This thing smokes from beginning to end. Their 2 LP's are great but this is my favorite recording by them.

St. Anger re-recorded (not by Metallica) This is actually pretty sweet. I always knew there was some cool riffs buried beneath that shitty production and garbage can drum sound. Really makes you think what the fuck were they thinking when they decided that that was a good sound for the album.

Xanthochroid - Of Erthe and Axen Act II After the brilliant Of Erthe and Axen Act I, I was really looking forward to Act II. What a huge disappoint. As epic and stunningly well-written as Act I was, Act II is neither. Act II seems to have just been an afterthought. I didn't make it to the 7th song before totally losing interest.

Helstar - Burning Star (from the same album) This is by far and away my least favorite Helstar album. It's just kind of stuck between two worlds (nwobhm/USPM) and doesn't really put the pedal down in either direction. Even still, I like to throw it on sometimes for fun. I've just recently ordered A Distant Thunder and I'm playing this as a sort of amuse-bouche.

Grudge - Vigilante (from Barbarians of the New Earth) If you like extremely weird USPM, you don't want to miss this album. Vigilante is probably not the best choice as an opener, but it does let you know what you're getting into as far as songwriting and storytelling. 99% sure this is the same band that recorded Lords of the Crimson Alliance, though they take a very different character on here. It's like the soundtrack to the sleaziest 80s movie never made.

Haemorrhage - We Are the Gore Of course, I didn't expect much from the band's new album. Their entire output since Loathesongs EP was mediocre at best. But hey, this one isn't that bad judging on first listen. The title track is a nice bouncy number.

Rainbow - Rising This is one of the first albums I can remember listening to endlessly, and while I don't play it near as much anymore, it's still an absolute masterpiece and one of my favourites of all time.
