Obliveon - Access to the Acropolis

This is excellent progressive death/thrash. It actually makes me imagine otherworldly places, which most music of this type doesn't. Highly recommended.

Death haven't really clicked for me yet, despite having listened to them for longer than any of the other death-metal bands I'm starting to reallyget into. 2013 is going to by my year for death metal, I think... but perhaps not Death'smetal.

Enslaved's newer material goes really well with metaphysics. Music and reading material are working together nicely for a change.

Metaphysical vikings. Well, that's something now...

I always thought "Raidho" was a loose metaphor on the viking history of pillaging and raping. Hence the song's title "Raid" + "hoe". :-P

Well, I don't really think that, but "Raidho" is one of the weaker pieces off of AEO in my opinion, and the song title is hard for me to take seriously.

Raidho is one of the Norse runes, I think - it's got something to do with wondering and journeys, so it may well have some of the pillaging thing going on. Thematically, Enslaved do seem to be going down a philosiviking path.

I'd say Lightning is my favourite from the album, at the moment I'm on Singular.

Well, you can wonder anywhere I guess. The phonetics of ancient languages in modern English can conjure up some awkward thoughts in some people, I'll grant you that.

The ones I like the most on Axioma... are "Warrun", "Giants", and "Lightening" (I'm pretty sure it is "Lightening" rather than "Lightning"). Really likable album, though Grutle's harsh vocals get a little grating on some songs (like the verse passages of "Ethica Odini").
