Svartsyn - The True Legend (Rerecording)

This is pretty awesome, sounds like it could have still been recorded in 1998, but the production on the original was terrible. This version is still raw and old school, but the production actually does the music justice with a very powerful sound that any metalhead would appreciate.

It appears that I am one of the very few who favour the original release's sound over the re-release's, having even the band themselves against me. In an attempt to produce a clearer, more aggressive sound, the remix unfortunately removed most of the sound's warmth, density and earthy heaviness (it was a Swedish black metal album with a Greece black metal sound, if you will). If Svartsyn with the re-release had intended to give "The True Legend" a sound which would better fit the album's ambiance, then, as far as I am concerned, they truly failed.

Altar of Perversion - The Flame of Hate and Wisdom

Slightly mindbending, with great dissonant riffs; on this record, monotony is employed to achieve a greater effect more successfully than in most (contemporary) black metal which makes use of it. Hopefully, the "Infra Naos" album will actually finally be released in 2013, I could really go for a few twenty-minute songs in the vein of "Adgnosco Veteris Vestigia Flammae".

Evroklidon's The Flame of Sodom in its entirety, shame they broke up this album kicks some serious ass.

Annihilator - Phantasmagoria (1986 Demo)

This seriously has to be the first metal music to have death growling on it.

'Nother listen of Anthrax - Worship Music

Joey still rocks. Charlie is better than ever. Rob does an awesome job on the solos, though honestly, I still long for glory days of Dan Spitz.

Killer return. I can't wait for the next album.

Paradox - Electrify

Am I the only one who randomly spurts outs the words "SECOND OVER THIRD BY FORCE!" thanks to this album's opener? Anyway, this record slays, and I'm just whetting my appetite for the new one.

Incantation - The Infernal Storm

Not as good as some of their other albums, but you know what you're getting with Incantation: dirty-ass death metal, and this is no exception. It's still a pleasure to listen to. I still need to pick up the newest one. Maybe a trip to Sydney this weekend is needed.

Oh, if you like that kind of thing you'll love Collision Course! Personally I find it to be their best album. I wonder where they're going with the new one.

Beyond Creation - The Aura

Keeps getting more and more spins. I knew it was good but it has this strangely intoxicating flair that makes me come back more often than not. It's like the best of the tech/prog death scene without most of its trappings. Me likes it! :nods:

Yeah, I've been a fan of Paradox for a while (with Electrify and Heresy being my faves), but Collision Course is the only of theirs that I've yet to check out. I was just about to spin it, though, so here goes... :)

And based on the two new tracks I've heard, the new record seems like it will be quite immense.

I have been neglecting Deicide a lot lately. Some times you forget how great the bands that are right in front of your face are because you are so busy searching.
