Rage Nucleaire- The Gallows and the Black Coffin

Up from plague pits yawning wide,
upon which a crossmoon shines,
bring them that grim Death designs,
whose sex appeal can't be denied

Is this album actually good? I've heard a lot of comments that just say it's kind of restrained and doesn't live up to the hype surrounding it before release...made me a bit wary to buy it or anything.

I think its a solid 7/10 album and I've been listening to it quite a bit lately. There are definitely some flat moments here and there, but there are enough awesome moments that shine through to make it a worthwhile album. I'm predicting that they'll hit it out of the ballpark with their next album.

Bloodshot Dawn - Illusion Aesthetic
The grooves on this song are massive. The band combines several genres but it might get disapproval comments from purists.

Comatose Vigil - Not a Gleam of Hope

Depressive music for a depressed mood. I love the brooding...well, everything. It's bathed in synths but I think it helps it. Nothing is out of place. The vocals are emotionally deep (personally) and are used sparingly. One of my favourite albums of all time. No, really.

Yes! I was the mule and driver, so I really was just sitting under a tree stand for like 7 hours, also doing a good amount of hiking. I didn't get a hunting licence this year, since it was only my second time ever out hunting. I dragged a dear about a mile or something up a hill in the woods and through a fucking meadow. It was cool. Luckily the hunter I was with killed it pretty close to where we went into the woods.

Fuck! I would NOT be too relaxed in the middle of a hunting listening to music with headphones!
Do you know how much people dies every year because of accidental shots while hunting in my country?!?
Be careful!

And another one for Enslaved! REALLY enjoyable album!

Emperor - The Burning Shadows of Silence

...I still don't think I get it. I listen to Emperor every couple of months to see if I get it, but it doesn't hold appeal that a lot of black metal does for me.

I've had the very same "problem", if you should call it that, too. Then, only very few months ago, I gave "In the Nightside Eclipse" another attempt at listening closely, and it suddenly resonated with me, although I have no idea as to what the reasons for this sudden change in perception were (a point of connection for me was the ostensible similarity with Mayhem's "De Mysteriis Dom. Sathanas", one of my favourite black metal albums). Nonetheless, I suddenly came to understand the influence it exerted on many black metal bands, which I believe is - especially in branches of contemporary black metal like the so-called Orthodox movement, in my opinion - an incredibly prevalent one. Still, it isn't one of my most personally appreciated works in black metal, but I now consider it a very good album, as opposed to a mediocre to outright bland one, like I had previously thought of it.

Maybe I will soon revise my (firmly negative) opinion on Emperor's other albums, too, although I still cannot imagine myself liking any of them, other than possibly "Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk".

Svartrit - Den inre svarta flamman

Normally, I am not too fond of this style of overly melodic black metal, but Svartrit are somehow different. Striving to create an ambiance of sublimity and definitely succeeding, and impressive musicianship, too.

In the Nightside Eclipse is sounding better every time I re-listen, but at the same time, I think I'm still missing the "point". I get the same with DMDS actually - it has great moments, but it's never an album which cries out "listen to me!" when I scroll past it or see it on my shelves.

Electric Wizard - Ivixior B/Phase Inducer

...this needs to stop. There are so many bands that I need to listen too more, and I'm still stuck in the psychedelic wilderness of Electric Wizard... It's not unpleasant, but I used to listen to so much more variety.

Trail of Murder - Shades of Art

This might be the catchiest song all year, barring Sonata Arctica's "Only the Broken Hearts"...

Fuckin iPod needs to be charged now. I think maybe a random The Chasm album, or Buried Beneath - The Last Rays of the Moon will be next. I gotta drink coffee and play N.E.S. in the mean time; It's my job.
