Glad to see love for The Force.

The White Stripes - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

Screaming, emotive blues. Love this album.

Kamelot - Center of the Universe

This song pretty basically embodies everything that made Khan-era Kamelot great. I'm not much for keyboards, but that keyboard melody that plays over the guitar in the beginning is fantastic. Khan is a force as always.

The Philosopher - Death

Not my favorite. The tempo kinda feels like it drags. I want to hear the next lyric but it sounds like the vocalist is very out of breath.

Yeah, summer of 1983. The summer I never experienced.

Manilla Road - Mystification

Was never a big fan, but apparently that's because I'm dumb and never listened to mid-to-late 80s albums. Put simply, they're fucking amazing. Yet another sad case of my failure to explore a great artist's work until after they've died.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Fool

I really don't understand some of the viewpoints I've read in a couple of reviews here on MA for this album (King). True, the production isn't really that good, but those orchestrations are something many, MANY bands can only fucking dream of writing (currently listening to orchestral version of the album). The "clean" vocals are gritty and impactful in a way I've never really heard before in metal. Maybe it's because this is the first FA album I've ever listened to, but despite the production quality it has everything I personally like about metal, and music in general.

Gonna have to give the rest of the discography a listen, but I'm definitely considering buying all their shit because holy fuck, this is some good stuff.

Trying to "get" into Opeth for the second time. Currently on my second listen of Blackwater Park and somewhat digging it.

I just wish they'd stop going into all these acoustic interludes, 3 or 4 in the album is fine but you can't tell them apart after a while and it just breaks the flow.

Helloween- Future World

Things I've never understood: Why a music video wasn't made for this song rather than chopping Halloween down to 4 minutes.

Morbid Angel - Covenant of Death

I will repeat my opinion that Formulas is a major improvement over Domination.

Cast Iron - Leather & Metal

Such a shame they did not record more. Vintage Running Wild-worship on some of the tracks!

Stone Temple Pilots - "Wicked Garden"

One of the outstanding tracks from their debut, "Core". I regret missing their only live performance in my country as Weiland would pass away years later.

Running Wild- Bad To The Bone

Am I the only one that finds this song kind of average given its reputation?

De Profundis - The Blinding Light of Faith (2018)

Progressive/tech death is not something I'd normally seek out but this has just the right amount of straightforward, headbanging aggression that I can get into mixed with some catchy melodic black moments. Entertaining stuff.

Craft - White Noise and Black Metal

I am enjoying this album which is my first from Craft. Melodic Black Metal with a hint of Mayhem to my ears. Will have to check out their earlier albums.

Suffocation - Seeds of the Suffering.

Bought a 2 CD set of Liege and Pierced probably 10 years ago and never really could get into them. But like I tend to do, 5-10 years later I'll grab a disc off the rack that I never dug and suddenly I'm finding hooks and parts that are smoking and then I'm getting into the band 10 years too late.

Some heavy shit on this record.

Neptune ~ Burglary Man from "Land of Northern"
Holy shit this song hasnt left my head for days. Gonna be the internal soundtrack to my next thief character in D&D. Super awesome and obscure swedish heavy metal band that originally released only demos in the 80s. But now all the demos have been collected and released as one album. Definitely recommended!

I used to think that but really it's just the main riff that drags it down a tad. The verses rule (pooounding the world, with a FISH OF STEEEL), the chorus is ridiculously catchy, it's got some of the most entertaining soloing from the band's prime, literally the only flaw that song has is that the main riff is kinda weak and stupid. The small variation of it that they do in the pre-chorus sounds rad as hell, but when the song kicks off it's just that dumbass dinkle riff that makes it sound neutered. There are definitely better songs on the album outside of the other really obvious two, and the B Side in general is some of the best stuff they ever wrote, but I can see what people are saying if they think Bad to the Bone is a bit overrated.

Yea, so-so main riffs can do a lot of damage to a song. You are spot on about the soloing though. As I was listening last night and it got to the solo I was like "OK, this is amazing."

Yeah, I tried really hard to get into them a few years ago but they just didn't click. The guy has a great death growl but other than that, there's nothing that hooks me outside of that song "Bleak." The riffs do absolutely nothing for me.

Judas Priest - Sin After Sin, full album

Sinner is one of the best metal songs of all time and nobody will ever convince me otherwise. The thing is perfect and the main riff is like top 15 all time.

Cryptic Tales - Anathema (1992)

This is some good old classic Polish death/doom. A combination of blasting death metal and ethereal, epic doom atmospheres, and even though it's a demo the production is on par with classics like As the Flower Withers and Lost Paradise.

Judas Priest - "Spectre"

The new Priest albums just keeps getting better with every play. "Spectre" is another standout track from this modern masterpiece.

Can anyone tell me who this Elise Widemark is that apparently helped write half the albums lyrics?

Primal Fear- 16.6 (Before the Devil Knows You're Dead).

One of PM's most unjustly crapped on albums. Sure it's a bit low all-out speed demons, but when they're there, they're fucking there ("Riding the Eagle" and "The Exorcist"). Hell I even like the album's more notorious nu metal/industrial moments ("Soar" for example). OK the ballads are genuinely sappy and insipid, but that's why we also have shit like "Killbound" and "Six Times Dead" to help pick up the slack. A mostly very solid effort.

Easily my favorite song on that album.

I adore this band. Their male/female vocal harmonies are just gorgeous.

Metallica - Orion

I needed an 8 minute song to play in my headphones so when it is over I will know my food is ready without waking up my GF with a noisy alarm. Been years since I listened to this track. Good to go back to some of the music I started with.

Sepultura - Alethea

Always forget these guys are still making music. Modern Sepultura seems to be a love em or hate em thing. I think modern Sepultura is good. I feel that metal purists dislike modern Sepultura because it's not thrash anymore. But if you can appreciate hardcore/punk and groove then new Sepultura is great. This track is from their newest 2017 album and it's groovy and heavy as fuck. Glad these guys are still rocking it \m/

I've been floating around for a week or two with no distinct musical addiction, but this album will probably be the next one for me. I only heard it once ages ago and ordered it after Mark's death. Should be great.

After the gig yesterday I had to re-listen to this one. Still a speedy, thrashy, gnarling ripper of an album.

Didn't expect to see this band getting mentioned here. To me it sounds more like some Swedeath demo than doom/death though - their following up EP seemed more Peacevile influenced or something.

NP: Media in Morte - The Die is Cast

Some interesting technical thrashy stuff - Like Metallica/Destruction gone death metal or something.
