I'd say yes, it's among the best of best :)
Overall I prefer Port Royal by a very little margin, but monsters like Tortuga Bay and Marooned are unreally good.

Judas Iscariot - Heaven in Flames (full)

Color me surprised: I've regretted my 18 year old hype-based blind buy of Distant.. wich i found almost completely unexciting, but this is really good.

The core sound is still largely the same, but those incredibly simple keyboard bits add a whole new dimension to it, great work!

Impaled Nazarene - Nihil

Huge improvement over Rapture.

I've heard this compared to Ordo Ad Chao but it doesn't sound similar at all save for a general experiental-ness. There's way more traditional structuring and riffage here. It's actually almost proggy, wheras Ordo sounds broken and regressive. Still really fucking amazing. Really really fucking amazing.

A Umbra Omega is an amazing album. It took me a couple of listens to really stomach it given its really fucked up nature, but it's worth every listen for sure. And yeah, Ordo ad Chao has no connection to this thing, at least I can't hear any.

It's definitely awesome, but it's no Blazon Stone. Honestly after it was over I found myself wondering if Port Royal wasn't just a pinch better as well. But it's only been one listen, I'm sure things can change. And yes, Marooned is a masterpiece, as is The Battle of Waterloo.

I'd say Death or Glory is probably my third or fourth favorite RW album (current overall favorite is Blazon Stone but that could change any day) but that isn't saying much considering how absurdly good they were for like a solid decade. Riding the Storm is one of my all time favorite songs.

So much love for Blazon Stone? I remember enjoying it a lot (well, it's old RW!) but i don't spin it so often, i should remedy

Sigh - Hail Horror Hail

This song doesn't waste a second, what a start

Can't wait for the next H album!

Rush - Time Stand Still.

Probably my favorite Rush song. Probably a lot of do with growing older and seeing those you love grow older with you or die and move into the past where they are just memories and echoes. No more passing the evening with a drink and a friend in too many cases. Plus the drumming is perfection, the vocals earnest and honest, and the general musicianship is...well Rush.

I can only speak for myself, but hearing that album was like Rolf Kasparek put a seismograph to my brain, found out exactly what I wanted to hear, and translated the chart results to music.

Status Quo- Roadhouse Blues (live)

They stole this song right out from under Jim Morrison's nose.

Blazon Stone is tops but DoG is the pinnacle. Flat out 100% from me for a good reason. Blazon, Black Hand Inn, and Port Royal are pretty much equaled.

I'm genuinely, but pleasantly surprised that somebody likes a track off Hold Your Fire. Great album that is really underrated. And an awesome track too!

Hold Your Fire is problematic. Even Neil admits they went too far on that one. That said, Force Ten and Mission are great songs, especially live.

Survivor - Poor Man's Son

'Premonition' sounds very good in YouTube. Got to get that in some format. Ordered 'Vital Signs' as a used LP, don't know if I made a right choice, hah.

Kalmah- Waiting In The Wings

Decent album from Kalmah. I find myself going back to individual songs rather than the album start-to-finish. This song has a complete rip off of one of the riffs from "Seek & Destroy".

Ulcerate - The Destroyer of All

Tsunami-inducing energy. Earth-shattering vigor. Are you ready for a death so abrupt?

Ulcerate's a mighty good band, I should point out.

Nihilist -- Abnormally Deceased

I am afraid when it rums the gamut at the end of the day, classic Swedish death metal for me remains the purest embodiment of the old school sound!

Blut aus Nord - Epitome XV

The beginning is weird as hell. It gets better later on. The whole album is great, despite this awkward hiccup.

Black Sabbath - Solitude

I am doing a Black Sabbath marathon tonight. From the 1st to their 5th album. This little beauty is something I had forgotten for some reason. Really beautiful. I sat outside listening to it with my dog on my lap.

Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner As far as I'm concerned, this is their best song.

Cruel Force - Under the Sign of the Moon

This is some killer old school black/thrash, has a very primitive almost Heavy Metal vibe to it. And the vocals are barbaric.

Devin Townsend Project - Lady Helen

After a day of blasting Pantera and Damageplan in Vinnie's honour, some laid back stuff is more than welcome.

Dream Theater - Scarred

Although my love for this band has vanished quickly over the years, I'm still convinced some of their early tunes were pretty damn good. Maybe you'll leave me here to burn! :headbang:

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger (album).

Rules. Full of great tracks; Eye of the Tiger, The One That Really Matters, I'm Not That Man Anymore, Children of the Night, American Heartbeat. My gf said I'm getting too sensitive listening to this pussy hard rock, but I don't care.

I did listen to (2011) Blut Aus Nord - 777 Sect(s), (2011) Blut Aus Nord - 777 - The Desanctification and (2009) Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II - Dialogue With The Stars yesterday and to (2012) Blut Aus Nord - 777 Cosmosophy just now.

Great old school heavy metal from Chile, with some speed moments.

Understated little masterpiece. An epic, rambling, hard rocking and attitude filled closer.

Saw them live at Graspop Metal Meeting yesterday, they crushed. Riding out that high with some Frontschwein.
