Sigh - Ecstatic Transformation

Listening to Sigh's new album put me in the mood for their old albums again. Maybe not the best thing to be said about the new one, but I do dig some Imaginary Sonicscape.

Had to put this one now since I am really looking forward to the new album. Brilliant band!

Judging from the band's (lack of) productivity since that album, they could have been transformed into three-headed squids in the meantime and we would be none the wiser.

Dragonforce - Seasons

Less instrumental showboating and baby-steps into making more than two song templates? This is the direction I've been hoping this band would go in for a long time.

Actually, they say right there in the song: "...but now we are ghosts,"

Judas Priest - Desert Plains

Classic.

Xandria - Valentine

Okay yeah, this does sound eerily like After Forever's s/t.

Okay, so this name is starting to pop up way more than it should, and with such comparisons I may be forced to actually checking Xandria again for the first time in years. If it's anything like old AF it should work with me! :D

Uhm... on topic then: Psychotic Waltz's A Social Grace, which I hadn't heard for a while. Still sounds as amazing as I remember it and it still makes me fly away in psychedelic dreams...

Most of the album reminds me of Nightwish, but the song "Soulcrusher" sounds like it came off of After Forever's self titled album with its big riffs and menacing vocals.

Words of Farewell - Urban Panorama

Pretty cool modern melodeath, just put out their debut last month; rather Insomnium/Omnium Gatherum esque.

Overkill - From The Underground And Below

"Promises" may be the only Overkill song that I absolutely despise (as it sounds like some sappy pseudo-Motley Crue bullshit) but just about every other song makes up for it. "Genocya" is my favorite track from the album by a small margin, the way Blitz's vocals come slicing through is unforgettable.

In Mourning - Sirens

Very good album, quite surprising too, I wasn't crazy with their 2 previous ones. It's very atmospheric proggy melo death, more interesting than Insomnium if you ask me. The album title and lyrucs reminds me of Ahab, oceanic melo death :)

YES! The album is very, very good. The only thing I wish they did was swap the two tracks "A Vow to Conquer the Ocean" and "Voyage of a Wavering Mind". Swap the titles and make it so that "AVTCTO" is the final track - better finale than some sludgy trudger! Que pensez-vous?

Black Sabbath - Sleeping Village

I feel like I just heard this recently.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall

That riff around the 4:20 mark leading into the solo is some cool shit.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Teenage Bottlerocket - Bitchface

That right there is one of the best song titles ever.

Despondent, crushing and monstrously overwhelming doom/death. Vastly underrated.

Listened to them shortly after finding Branikald. Great stuff, I'll be checking them out again when I get home.

NP: Gojira-The Way of All Flesh. Death metal always gets me through school.
