Enslaved - Blodhemn

Looks like I'm in the minority on 90s Enslaved, because Frost doesn't really grab me but I think this fucking slays.

Sodom - I Am the War

So. Sitting here with a bottle of brandy by my side, not yet drunk enough tzo notice the Anglo spelling errors and that's okay.
It's amazing how an album and memories attached to it can creep on you. Like, this is it, the definitive Sodom album to these ears and one who you can hang out with like an old and so fucking wise - and charming - friend. Like without any notice of how long we haven't seen each other.

Gonna be trying out - again - the rest of the awesome three of Violent Revolution and The Antichrist but... boyzzz it gonna be tuff.

EDIT: the best opposition to my steel producing and overall hard German steel production is the Schmier scool of disregarding the rougher things in life. Or engaging in rougher shit as per The Antichrist whose folks of slander, nay, godfathers of said terrible speecj-act run rampant on the album.

While we jump on the mines eh? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gsYGhCFnxE

EDIT no.2: Holy shit Ivanka, we got a cable. There's a...it seems kind of a boy? My god, the Trump States of America will not be able to take our little boy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOKm7ZC2YKA&list=RDgOKm7ZC2YKA&t=113

EDIT no. 3 was kind of hard not to either come off as an anti-American loony or as a

Fuck it

In this whole context I'm gonna try and retain some of my values since y'know, there's been an NK invasion of the US and so on in this our (my? most definitely) universe.

The fucking sad truth (and one of the most energetic bands' live) is captured herein ladies and gentlefolk

And the coming to and STAND UP AND FIGHT MAKE A FINAL STAND

Order From Chaos - Dawn Bringer. The least excellent of their three full-lengths, but still fun.

Danzig - Godless

Honestly, I've never really given 'em a chance (the only music I've of heard of theirs was a bit of their s/t), but this is delightfully bleak, doomy and gothic. Might be stating the obvious, too, but man he is such an expressive vocalist. Don't hear that often in my metal (though I don't really listen to trad doom either, so *shrug*). Will likely give 4 and Samhain a chance, too.

Detonation- Structural Deceit

Better than average melodic death metal from the Netherlands. Good songwriting, nice melodies.

Seasons Of The Wolf - Wings Of Doom

Still some of the very best trad metal riffs of the new millennium. Incredible album.

Obsequiae - Aria of Vernal Tombs - Until All Ages Fall

The intro to this track gets stuck in my head all the time. Incredibly majestic and powerful.
If it is one thing that keeps me coming back to a band it is a truly unique sound. These guys seem to have endless amounts of melodies and rhythmic ideas that keep every song refreshing and catchy.
Pretty amazing it took someone so long to come up with something uniquely medieval that was not primarily rooted in 2nd wave bm like Satyricon's Dark Medieval Times. One of my favorite albums ever.

Kadaverdisciplin - Frozen Meadows

While spellings aren't their forte, Kadaverdisciplin play some really good Naglfar-esque Swedish melo-black metal. It's their debut album and the quality is consistent across all tracks. Currently on loop this Sunday.

Kudos to Sick6Six for mentioning them in the 'Worthwhile albums of 2017' thread.

Never got into the band beside few songs, but autumn is when i give them another chance, each year

Arckanum - Kostogher (full)

I never checked out this project properly, and today i'm really in the mood.. right now seems a bit derivative and silly sometimes, but unlike a lot of bands the simple riffs actually build a good atmosphere. I'll check out the other albums

If Ultraboris got one thing right about WASP, it's that this and Heretic (The Lost Child) are amazing fucking songs that are required listening for metalheads everywhere.

Atlantean Kodex - "Kodex Battalions"

Finally jamming the new album. What I thought would have been an unknown, never recorded demo song is actually a new track!! Fun and fast, short and straightforward for AK, but still really cool. Has a very Maiden-esque, Trooper style guitar lick that gets your fits pumping. I suppose it will be on the new album, which I'm greatly looking forward to. I think interviews hinted it's supposed to come by early 2018??

Four Year Strong - "Maniac (R.O.D.)"

Seeing these guys on Wednesday, they're playing all of Rise or Die Trying for its 10 year anniversary and that's too good to pass up. Probably the greatest album of 2007, a total avalanche of singalong choruses and gang shouts and major key breakdowns. Basically old Fallout Boy on steroids, definitely one of the best things the Myspace scene ever churned out.

Anathema - We, the Gods

I love the final part. It sounds more like Iron Maiden than anything to do with either death or doom metal. Just a galloping rhythm with melodies like on Hallowed Be Thy Name.

Shit, they don't even have this listed on MA yet. Hope it's as good as White Goddess.

Deep Purple - The Surprising

This is maybe the best album by a bunch of 70 year olds I've ever heard.

Sorry, I meant to clarify the new live album. You can listen to the new song here. And also this is the interview I'm talking about, and although it doesn't get super specific, Kodex Battalions might not be on the record. They wanted to get it out at the end of this year, but that probably isn't happening since no more news has dropped since (I believe).

Arckanum - Antikosmos (full)

I'm listening all the albums chronologically... Overall i'm liking this album more than the earlier ones, it loses the folkish charm but compensates with much stronger guitars and some brilliant dual melodies. Really good! :)

Mörker - Höstmakter (2008)

The name and title alone gives this away as Swedish BM (and of the more melodic brand). Solid but with nothing truly memorable apart from the incredible Segertåg which had an unexpected and welcome turn.

Definitely Pantera's heavies moment. This song has the band playing in death metal-levels of intensity and ferocity.

Saw them on their final tour in Ohio, and when they played this one (I believe it was third, after Hellbound and A New Level), I thought the place was coming down.

Anthem - Voice of Thunderstorm

I love myself some death metal and plenty of technical stuff and whatnot, but sometimes there's nothing better than those simplistic heavy metal bands with tons of energy. This might be Anthem's most ''generic'' album but it still fucking rips, especially considering the year it came out - Judas Priest wish they were able to retain this style of speed metal when they did Painkiller.

Celestiial - Desolate North + Thule

The Funeral Doom tag was really deceiving, i'm not even sure how i woud categorize this music...

It sounds so distant and feeble, and only few clean guitars and sound effects give it a semblance of melody.
I still don't know how i feel about it, but it's interesting for sure.

Ah okay. I had originally heard it would be released this year - hope the pushing back means they're working extra hard.

Massacra- Enjoy the Violence

So far I really like what I'm hearing here. This is one of the most perfect fusions of thrash metal and classic death metal I've ever heard I think, and the best part is that they're a band who doesn't forget the fucking RIFFS.
