Iced Earth- Watching Over Me
This is considered IEs worst ballad? Its inoffensive at best with a nice chorus. Unlike I Died For You.

As an IE fanboy, If I Could See You is probably the worst. I can dig I Died For You. I can dig Watching Over Me. I can even tolerate When the Eagle Cries. But If I Could See You just does absolutely nothing for me.

Pontus Hultgren - Setzer's Theme

This guy does some pretty amazing Final Fantasy covers. Highly recommended if you are into old game songs being redone with a bit of a fresh sound.

Watching Over You has a pretty solid solo, but the rest of the song is lame. I Died For You is ok, but it's not Melancholy.

Mist of Misery - "Hymn To Silence" from Fields of Isolation

Ashamed of myself for sleeping on this release for as long as I did. Phenomenal record.

NP: Saint Vitus - "Ice Monkey".
Weird song with some cool lead guitar.

Melechesh-Triangular Tattvic Fire

Ok, this is without a doubt my favorite Melechesh song. Fucking hell everything about it is incredible. Those blistering riffs and Proscriptor just having a ton of fun on the kit, and the RIFFS. AGHHH.

Peste Noire - La Sanie Des Siècles - Panégyrique De La Dégénérescence

It's amazing how if Sally Famine didn't have the controversy around him, Peste Noire would be another mediocre black metal band. I'm failing to see how this album is supposed to be significant in any way.

Panopticon - "(Cowering) At The Foot Of The Mountain" from The Scars of Man on the Once Nameless Wilderness (I and II)

Wrapping up my first listen of this monolith of an album. So much depth to the first hour which leads into a simply stripped down, remarkable second hour of Americana. As a whole this release is greater than each of the individual parts. Such an intelligent work, and something that I look forward to revisiting several times more just to find all of the things I overlooked on my first journey.

One of the best bands in the US metal scene! They're like the American Blind Guardian. Very consistent and deserves more recognition for their awesome work.

I really like it, as well. To me, they are the gold standard for the "Post-black" sound. There is such a quick over saturation of the style already, but no one has "found it" like them (yet, imo)

Malice- In the Beginning...

An incredibly meh USPM album. I utterly love "Air Attack" (maybe because I'm a shameless Judas Priest fanboy?), but the rest of this album otherwise varies from bland to boring.

I just jammed two Anaal Nathrakh albums which were Hell Is Empty and All The Devils Are Here and Vanitas. Both albums were excellent and I really can't wait for the group to come out with some new material.

It's good, but to me feels a bit overlong. ''Emalaith'' is probably their best epic number.

Each riff sounds like a cold gust blowing in your face.

Sodom- In The Final Sign of Evil

Sounds pretty damn good, I just wish some Obsessed By Cruelty tracks were recorded for this. That album has an atrocious sound, and not the good kvlt kind either.

The Chasm - A Dream of an Astral Spectrum (To an Eternal Hate)

The disturbing atmosphere of this album reminds me a bit of The Red in the Sky is Ours era AT The Gates. I dig it; doesn't seem to be as busy sounding as their latter material.

Paradise Lost - Permanent Solution

From their Depeche Mode era. A billion percent different from the early and later parts of their career, but then again, I've always been fascinated by the mid-periods of all these 90s-borne gothic/death-doom bands where they started getting really into electronica and synthpop.

And all of them they did a great job there, from Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride to Moonspell, Morgoth and Tiamat.

Theatre of Tragedy also had a really great middle electronica period. They're the band I always think of when that kind of style change comes to mind.

Probably my favorite song intro. My Rush kick is winding down I think but not totally yet. I could listen to Neil Peart drum all day long.
