Overkill - Bloodletting

Better than Ironbound, yep I just said it. Vicious and pummeling riffs with hands-down Blitz's best vocal performance. Actually his low vocals on "The Head And Heart" may provide a worthy contender but Bloodletting is absolutely relentless in every sense. Fuck me, I should just keep on drinking and write a review. Exactly one more month until the show!

God I love that whole EP. Some time around 2000 or so, after having abandoned metal for most of the 90's, I was clumsily getting back into heavy music with very little idea of what had happened in the intervening decade. While pawing through a bargain bin of .99 CD's, I picked that one out on the basis of artwork alone, feeling it looked obscure enough to be metal of some sort. Oh how right I was. And oh how that band went to shit later in their career.

NP: Chordotomy - "Bludgeoned into Demise" - The Precious Ideal
(with thanks to the brutal death thread; I didn't think I'd like this slammy-type death but ... this album actually is pretty great)

Watched part of Fenriz's 'Black Metal 101' last night, which was good fun, so this morning is all about BATHORY!! since I have the least exposure to their black metal stuff. Liking the Viking material so much, I just kind of stuck with that .. but .. that's not gonna fly. Bathory smashes.

currently: The Return ..

I'm a big fan of Under The Sign of the Black Mark when it comes to black-metal era Bathory - It's got that little hint of what was to come, but is still evil as hell. I've not heard of Black Metal 101 before though - what is it?

Currently listening to: Running Wild - Bad to the Bone.

Catchy, to the highest order.

Right, that links to Part 2. Watch it from the beginning. It's a really good layout for those of us who weren't there from the beginning. Ridiculous amounts of link-hopping potential from one hour of a personal outline. Good stuff. Thanks for dealing with the chore, Fenriz!

NP: Encoffination on youtube. fittingly enveloping. Like getting caught in a slow motion avalanche. Really into it.

Perversor - Necrocosmic Revelations

Fukk, fukking fukk fukk! This is insanely good, definitely not for everyone though with it's filthy, high octane, satanic fueled pounding insanity. The sheer amount of Sadistik Exekution influences are running rampant here, and I for completely support it. GIVE ME MORE!!

Bathory - The Golden Walls of Heaven

Listening to all of the Bathory albums chronologically. My previous attempts at Bathory marathons failed, so I'm not doing it consecutively, just when I can/feel like it, probably with other albums in between.

Sounds good...till the annoying in-your-face poppy chorus kicks in. It's really catchy in a bad way.

Overkill - Come and Get it.

Lets see if The Electric Age sounds just as good the second time around. Probability points to yes. The epic sounding choir-type-thing in this song was such a surprise the first time around, but not an unwelcome one.
