Gorgoroth - Profetens Apenbaring

Spinning thhis after hearing the good news about Gorgoroth, and Burzum afterwards, for the same reason. I was greeted by both bits upon returning home from work. Fuck. Yes.

Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side (title track)

This song perfectly symbolises the album of the same name. Melodic yet aggressive and intense. I can certainly see why so many people call this Amon Amarth's best album, although I slightly prefer a couple of other albums.

Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare

Still the best thrash (possibly metal) album ever, in case anyone forgot.

It's a Burzum marathon tonight, folks. The thread about his release triggered this event. So I'm listening to his entire studio discography. Currently on:

I'll do the goddamn Burzum marathon when he's actually released goddammit.

For now,
Morbid Angel - "Prayer of Hatred"
What a riff! This is exactly what I like.

Therion - Theli

Pretty damn good and catchy, but not quite what you'd expect. Very swedish in character, and I don't mean "grim" here. I fully understood the character of Therion only after seeing them live. This stuff can either be done seriously or with utter relaxed self-ironic frolicking, and they chose the latter method, being very swedish in the process. Nice music to play at work, and inoffensive to most people.

The Call of the Wintermoon - Immortal.

Had to give them a listen after reading the discussion about Abbath in the vocalists thread.

Meshuggah-"Electric Red".

I was in the mood for some crazy, technical shit. This gets the job done well.

Mirrorthrone - Gangrene

I shouldn't like this, judging by my usual taste, but I do. It's quite interesting and fluid, and there really is a lot of dark passion flowing through the jagged, knifelike riffs and the morbid piano pieces.

All I'll say is that shortening the songs just a bit would make it better - but as it is, I like it fine. Not love, yet, but I do like it.
