Beautiful acoustic folk. Very meditative.

Is that Galician? I've been looking for music that is in one of Spain's regional languages, so thanks.

Drudkh - Eternity.

This band changed my life.

Dark Funeral - Satan's Mayhem

I love how you can actually hear everything on this album in contrast to most other black metal discs being released at the time.

Bathory - The Wheel of Sun

Man, I wish I wouldn't have put off Nordland II for so long. Quorthon's voice is perfect here and fiery passion is spewing from his heart like a volcano!

yeah, would have loved to hear what he would have done with Nordland III. I & II were great and a worthy return to form.

Dornenreich - Woran erkennt mich deine Sehnsucht morgen?

The combination of neofolk and black metal on their early albums is rather enjoyable.

Paradise Lost - Shadowkings

I definitely changed my mind about this album. Some songs tend to sound pretty lame (e.g ''The Last Time'' is one of the worst PL songs ever regarding their early period) but in general this album is full of catchy guitar leads and accesible, if poppy songwriting. I'd say this album also has the best of Nick's vocal lines to offer. I love the controled rasp he had during this period.

Cultes Des Ghoules - The Devil Intimate

Hypnotically repetitive seems to be the name of the game here; the individual riffs just keep recurring and recurring, really making a doom-like dirge of a track, and indeed, an album with that feel.

I'm playing stuff I've written in Guitar Pro. I'm writing a huge concept album, at the moment I have 11 songs written for it, about one hour in total. The riffs and melodies are thematic, and many of them that are introduced early on will appear later aswell, often changed a bit according to the moment's need. This is because the music follows a story, and the events, characters and the music are strongly connected.

Mechina- Andromeda

An excellent one song release, hopefully it will be put out in physical format in the future. The song has an Sci-Fi feeling to it.

Thin Lizzy - For Those Who Love to Live

One of the Lizzy albums I hadn't heard yet. Sounds good so far.

Blood Ceremony - Lord Summerisle

Pretty good accoustic song singed by Alia and their bassist, one of the highlights of this album. It's a bit of a disappointment for me though, they're a better band live than on record. I think the album will grow on me though as the rock and folky influences are pretty cool.

Agreed. For a sell out album, it's generally awesome. I love the huge main riff in "Hollowed Land" and "Forever Failure" is as depressing as anything they've ever made.

Neige Eternelle - Plus les jours s'avancent

Quebec nationalist black metal ftw.

Neige Éternelle's demo was better than their debut, I think they try to be kvlter than thou especially live and it's annoying.

''Enchantment'' is my favourite tune of the album. It definitely just sounds like the absolutely fucking right track to open the album with. I just wish the other tunes were a bit longer/developed just like the openings track...but as I said, it's good for what it is. I really wish Nick could still scream like this. I mean, he started to become really good around Shades of God but I think he showed the best of himself during the Draconian Times era. It would also been cool had One Second still featured some harsher vocal lines atleast. I can't say his clean vocals do much for me...but whatever.

NP: Paradise Lost - Gothic, of Harmony Breaks.

This should be released on DVD already but considering the time its been released I don't think that will happen anytime soon. :(

Freedom Call - Crystal Empire
The band and the album that got me into metal. Now I mainly listen to black metal, but I will never forget how it all started with Freedom Call for me.

King Carnage - In Death Overshadow Thee

Trippy, low-tuned, bassy, Disma-like OSDM that somehow stays interesting and head-banging. The 91% review led me to check this band out and so far, so good.

2 new Grave Upheaval songs

How much more depth can you add to your mix? This sounds like it was recorded in the center of the Earth. Probably my favorite "atmospheric" death metal band going right now. Just super thick, suffocating stuff with really cool vocals, nothing too fancy-schmancy. Very excited for the complete album to drop!

Kreator - Riot Of Violence, Ripping Corpse, Carrion, Under The Guillotine
Been listening to a lot of early Kreator recently. Holy shit these guys play fast and aggressively, especially for their time. They still rock though, Enemy Of God is fucking awesome too.

Soilwork - Drowning With Silence

First time listening to the second disc since picking this up in March. Shaping up to be just as good as the first I think, but I'm still a little unsure of it, probably because I've gotten so attached to disc one.

Usipian - An Everborn

Got recommended this to me based on my enjoyment of Lecherous Nocturne. Not quite as spastic as LN, but it's still damn good death metal.

Sivyj Yar - The Dawns Were Drifting As Before

Title track off the new album, and it might be the best track. The songwriting may not yet be as strong as the bands it is inspired by (Drudkh and Alcest, by the sound of it), but there certainly is potential. The musicianship is remarkable, especially for a one-man band. Probably the best bass playing I've heard in black metal in a while.

Ne Obliviscaris - Tapestry of the Starless Abstract

This is immense. Quite a hard pill to swallow in one sitting, as it's just so all over the place. Nonetheless, very intriguing extreme progressive metal.

Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon
Out of their 'trilogy', this is the album I like least. But the title track is great.

Eldjudnir - Bundinn (from the album Angrboda)
I'm reviewing this today. This particular track is probably the slowest and most atmosphere-conscious on the album. It's kind of like a mix of Wardruna and early Satyricon. Good stuff indeed.

I disliked it for the longest time, but it grew on me once the influences became more apparent. Now I'd rate it above A Blaze in the Northern Sky but under Transilvanian Hunger.

Nokturnal Mortum - By the Path of the Sun

Maybe not the strongest track on the album, but still a quality song with some great riffs (the opening riff in particular).

Decapitated - Carnival Is Forever

Something like one million listens later (plus hearing most of it live), I still think this album is fucking awesome start to finish, and this is modern death metal done perfectly right.

Inanna - Temporal Beings. Excellent progressive death metal, that actually sounds like proper death metal, but with several influences going on too. A bit of Atheist/Cynic and Opeth, but quite brutal anyway.

Suffocation - Human Waste EP

I can't decide whether this or Effigy is the best Suffo release, but it's clear in my head at least that both are better than everything else, including Pierced From Within.

Queued:

Plutocracy - Dankstahz (first listen)

Apparently this is a second-tier classic crust album; looking forward to it greatly.

Dark Tranquillity - UnDo Control. Projector is easily my favorite DT release and actually my all time favorite album, I just love the progressive style they put on it. And the melodies are fucking killer and some of my favorite ever as well, just so dark and broody, combine that with the extremely well blended and rounded vocal stylings of Mikael Stanne and the rest is history. This is probably the only album I own that I would actually rate at 100%.

Listening to Defeated Sanity's "Passages Into Deformity". Seriously some of the greatest brutal death metal to come out in recent years.
