Murmur: Murmur

Loving this album. it's kinda like freejazz black metal. one of the guys was in the Flying Luttenbachers so that might have something to do with it as well.

The Black Dahlia Murder - Goat of Departure

autothrall, awesome as he may be, is not allowed to call this band mallcore or an At The Gates clone anymore. At least not after Everblack.

Astriaal - Renascent Misanthropy

There's a beauty and the beast type combo going on here, slow melancholic sections and brutal Black Metal and its done very well. Good album

One if the best black metal bands from here. I remember listening to them on 3 Hours Of Power/Full Metal Racket (radio show here) and they were quite often played

Bretwaldas Of Heathen Doom - Grey Wolf

This band is so underrated. Melodic doom with some crust and Lemmy style vocals

Summoning - Caradhras

man what a disappointment, so...uneventful. Even for Summoning.

Arsaidh-Carved in Stone

This album is just brilliant, awesome folk black metal in the Scottish way, excellent.

And this weekend:

Ered Wethrin(USA)-Ered Wethrin(Sverige)-Emyn Muil(Italy)

Thas an epic trilogy!

I consider it better than (2006) Summoning - Oath Bound.

Flammifer from (2013) Summoning - Old Mornings Dawn (Limited Deluxe Edition).
First 3 songs of the album are PERFECT!

Good boy Lord_Brendan, I also love OB which is actually my favourite Summoning album, alongside Minas Morgul.

By the way:

Slepinir-Warriors of Thor

Epic viking metal from England.

Weh's album Folkloren

Very good neofolk. I think it sounds similar to stuff like Neun Welten or Darkwoods

Kawir - To Uranus

Not had hardly any previous experience with Kawir, but this EP is a rather badass compilation with some seriously good material on it. The first three tracks feature some very full, well fleshed out compositions with lots of sweet riffwork and thick layers, really heady and moody shit. The older stuff that follows isn't quite as good but is still pretty ripping stuff, primordial work in the Hellenic tradition.

I am a big fan of Kawir. I first remember downloading a track called To Cavirs out of curiosity many years ago. Not long ago I bought the Ophiolatreia album which is a very solid album. I love the song Rhea (Meter Theon)

Forefather - Engla Tocyme

I am a bit of a Forefather fanboy. I think this album doesn't get as much attention as it warrants which is a shame. It is very different to the later stuff, with barely any harsh vocals at all, plus being more an epic mid paced album. Steadfast seems to overshadow any talk of them on here

Wodensthrone-Heófungtíd

I still love the debut, what an amazing piece of atmospheric pagan black metal, I hope they will release a third cd being more influenced by the debut rather than the sophomore one.

Not bad, instrumental from Carnival Diablos.

Svarti Loghin - Empty World

Stumbled upon this in one of the Rec topics. Very interesting black metal, even uplifting

Sonata Arctica – Broken

A grower of a song, probably my least favourite off WHG though.

Absu - Preclusion to Cythraul

I haven't listened to Absu in years; finally got around to listening to them properly today, and I'm already very impressed, five minutes into the record. The drumming is monstrous.

Morbus Chron- It Stretches in the Hollow

I really, really, really, really, REALLY fucking hated Sleepers in the Rift. Still, I figure I would check this album out. So far, I can already tell it's better than Sleepers in the Rift, which isn't hard. Still haven't come to a complete opinion.

Criminally catchy and Alvestam's voice rules.

This is one really awesome instrumental with an amazing jam-like feel to it. Plus, the musicianship and technique is pretty insane.

Xandria - Soulcrusher

It's a shame this vocalist is out of the band after only one album. Neverworld's End is so good, but I have no idea what to expect from the followup, which is apparently a couple months away.

That's one of my favorites from that album. Its probably the jazziest thing I've heard on a power metal album, and it actually sounds good too. Have you ever heard Alhambra? That's Yuhki (Galneryus)'s side-project. Light Bringer's bassist Hibiki plays on that. The musicianship on that is even more insane. Initially, I was kinda surprised by Eau Rouge, but after hearing "Estasion'aburasadora", its inclusion wasn't much of a shock.

NP: Dragon Guardian & Knights of Round - 忠臣蔵鬼倒伝

One of my more pleasant surprises from this year so far.

Skull Fist - Cold Night

Heavy/Speed metal in the vein of Enforcer. I'm late to get into this band. Currently checking out the debut album and it sounds solid. There's a new album too, anyone's heard it yet?

Light Bringer rules! First and last tracks have to be my favorite from that album.

Cranking Defenders of the Faith. :np: This album is quite nice to have on, every time I enjoy it more than I expect to.
