Grave Upheaval - no-title

Now streaming on NWN's bandcamp. Hope it's as cool as I think it will be!

Nonsun - Jesus' Age

Some stuff I'm reviewing. Just finished the previous one of Vesterian, and now it's on to some sludgy drone!!

Overkill - Horrorscope

I can't believe how underrated is this thrash metal masterpiece

Tokyo Blade - Sunrise in Tokyo
Just started getting into this band a few days ago, and I haven't really heard anything I don't like so far. This is definitely one of my favorite tracks from the debut.

Galneryus "Resurrection"

My latest obsession. Got half their stuff on CD now, probably should work on getting the rest soon.

Sanctuary - Soldiers of Steel

That shriek Warrel does on the word 'steel' where he sings his vibrato in time with the beat, then speeds it up, is fucking awesome.

Celtic Frost - Dawn of Meggido

I don't think anything really needs to be said about Celtic Frost.

King Crimson - Starless And Bible Black

Don't think I've ever listened to this one. Digging it so far. Seems like some sort of progression of Larks' so far.

Abysmal Grief - Feretri

really enjoy this guy's vocals, theatrical in a way, that and it's just solid doom.

Hawkwind Light Orchestra "Stellar Variations"

No idea why this wasn't released under the Hawkwind banner... this one nearly slipped past my radar, actually.

Nevermore - Dreaming Neon Black

God, I love this album. Many people say nasty things about Nevermore, but they've done some excellent things. This is their best.

Space in Time - Clean Slate

Great heavy metal band, Space in Time from Denver. Can see influence from some great 70s stuff, Sir Lord Baltimore, Deep Purple, Rainbow, I get nwobhm feels as well. Certainly not too keyboard heavy, but comes in loud and clear when its needed, really cool stuff people check it out.

I'm a huge fan of KC's pre-Discipline stuff. All of those albums are great in their own way although lately I find myself listening to the first 3 or 4 the most. SaBB and Red are great in their own way, just maybe not as dynamic and a little more firmly rooted in rock than the previous albums.

Alchemyst - The Inner Fire

Oh fuck yes! Deranged, unhinged and destructively chaotic German death metal at it's most heinous. Beyond, Venenum and Alchemyst are top tier material, and Germany keeps producing. Morbid and monstrous.

Zemial - Nykta

Why is this album so weird? It's like thrashy NWOBHM with the aesthetics of black metal with a mix of clean and raw vocals

EDIT: Second track comes on, all of the sudden they're early Celtic Frost!? Sounds kinda like Warhammer, that Hellhammer/CF worship band from Germany... Talk about variation!

Attacker - The Glen of the Ghost

Getting Bobby "Leather Lungs" Lucas on vocals was the best move for Attacker! This slays!

Incantation - United in Repugnance

This is cavernously heavy; I wasn't sure how much I'd ever enjoy Incantation, and death metal of it's style, but now I see that the answer is "increasingly".

So very true. Nekromanteion is a beast of an album.

Np : Wound - Inhale The Void

While these guys are nowhere near as dark as their aforementioned countrymen, they also play some very good Death Metal

Subrosa - Affliction

Can't say how the new album stands against its predecessor, but except for an overly long introduction in the opener and the lack of heaviness in the closer - which is nonetheless quite a good track, but not what I would have wished for on the ending tone - this one is surely a convincing effort. The vocalist(s) do an impressive job in providing every song with memorable lines, despite the fact that they do not have exceptional vocals... but the style fits just perfectly for this music.

Darkthrone - Whiskey Funeral

I like new Darkthrone better than old Darkthrone.

Yeah, seems they were starting to strip their sound down by that point. I like it though. My favourite KC album is probably Discipline, with In The Court Of The Crimson King in second. Discipline sounds fucking amazing with the 40th anniversary remastered edition. That album took a few listens to really click though.

Slussenanalys - Aquila Helvetos Asfaltos

Drunken Finnish vocals on top of hardhitting and weirdly trippy rock n roll riffs in good company of simplistic drumming. What more could you ask for?

I've always felt as though Heartwork and Swansong lack the same kind of musical depth the previous albums did. They both have some incredibly memorable songs on them, but the overall sound feels too polished, and the songwriting itself, in my opinion, lacks zest and interest.

Tad Morose - Beneath a Veil of Crying Souls

:headbang: This is absolutely fantastic Ripping leads, machinery riffwork and a new vocalist that couldn't be a better replacement for Urban Breed. If the entire album is this good, then it would have been worth the wait.

Dismember - Phantoms (Of The Oath)

Maidenesque glory fused with Swedish buzzsaws. This is a great instrumental cut.

I don't listen to these guys much, but they're good for a quick fix of black thrash.

King Crimson - Red

Really digging it. I've heard the song 'Red' a few times. On 'Fallen Angel' now. Very diverse.
