Anthem - Empty Eyes (Bound to Break)

Ripping Japanese heavy metal with a strong penchant for speed and muscle. Lots of Judas Priest influence. I fucking love this album.

NP: My Dying Bride - A Sea to Suffer in

Despite the lack of harsh vocals, this sounds pretty good so far. It doesn't feel as overlong as Turn Loose the Swans does and plenty of these riffs rock pretty hard.

Kalevala - Myths and Legends

This is weird, over the top, and fun as all hell. It's pretty much Brazilian USPM!

^I've got a soft spot for Vobiscum Satanas. I felt the new album was also their best effort since those early days.

Sticking to the hyperspeed BM theme....

Cirith Gorgor - Bi den dode hant (2017)

This EP snuck up on me while I was still digesting their 2016 album. Not sure if these songs are studio session leftovers or brand new songs but they definitely stand up well on their own.

NP: Enochian Crescent - Black Church (Album)
Man, this is the best thing the band ever did. What a great album. I'm happy to be revisiting it after a long while. Like meeting a long lost friend for a beer.

That's a good album!

Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones

Been awhile. Still one of the best albums released in this decade.

Abruptum - In Umbra Malitiae Ambulabo, in Aeternum in Triumpho Tenebrarum

Little noise, minimal, evil.

I have this album 2 years ago, but I just listen to it in this day. Great album.

Skyclad - Prince Of The Poverty Line

Walkyier really went to town on this one, I mean, lyrical perfection: "I'm a puppet of lust and my instincts are pulling the strings // My love's not an angel, it's merely a monkey with wings". And the music is quite awesome as well. My favorite 'Clad album.

NP: Ice Vinland - Vinland Saga.

This reminds me quite a bit of Slauter Xstroyes. Much better than the first album IMHO.

Iced Earth - Brainwashed

Such a good, aggressive album. I find myself listening to it more and more, given the these times we live in. It seems very odd to me how you can sin and feel so free. And all you have to do is say "Forgive me, I believe."

(2006) Blut aus Nord - MoRT and (1984) Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales (1999 Remaster) on my way back from work.

I must give the first one more listens and the second one is good. First time enjoying Celtic Frost!
P.S: Obituary's cover of Circle Of The Tyrants is MAGNIFICENT.

Fear Factory - Self Immolation

FF sounded so refreshing on their debut amidst the generic death metal when they first came out.

I really agree, truly a pleasure to both hear and read! :)

Shamefully, I forgot how much this fucking rips. Just insanely on point German speed metal.

Generation Kill - Red, White and Blood

This band from former Exodus singer Rob Dukes could've had a good album. However, the rest of the album isn't consistent and the intensity fades as the album goes along. This song is a good track though. Too bad the rest of the album isn't as heavy and intense as this.

Morbid Angel - Existo Vulgore

One of the few highlights from MA's much panned 'Illud..." album. I still maintain that it could've been a good EP if you cut the bad stuff.

Wolf - Shark Attack

Wolf is my go to band when I need some ballsy, aim-for-the-guts punch heavy metal. I never get tired listening to them.

Metallica - Lords Of Summer

Nah... I disagree with the majority. Lords Of Summer is a fun song and a great song live but I don't think it should replace any song on Hardwired... To Self-Destruct. In its essence, Lords Of Summer feels like a Death Magnetic b-side with a slightly bluesier edge than normal. It is not very creative compared to the rest album. The other songs on the album try out new ideas and bring throwbacks to almost all of the band's previous albums. You never get a more aggressive Loadish track like ManUnkind or pure Sabbath doom of Am i Savage. The best of both worlds like Halo On Fire and Here Comes Revenge or the sheer attitude of Dream No More or old school Metallica sound of Atlas Rise! or the balls out aggression of Spit Out The Bone. Just because it is thrashier doesn't mean it's better. That is how Metallica has prevailed in the music world, they have tried out so many things that other Thrash bands wouldn't even dream of. Something like Brotherhood Of The Snake may be fun for a few runs but the true artists are the more creative ones.

I've just revisted Brotherhood and found it utterly dull and forgetful, as I did when it was first released.

As for Hardwired, it's completel and utter rubbish! 'We're so fucked', 'Blacked Out, pop queen amphetamine', and ''allure, allure, sweetness obscure'. It's appalling and another one which makes them laughable; mega rich, but laugable!

Hell yeah, Wolf are the shit. Very underrated band.

Carcass - Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System

Still enjoying Surgical Steel quite a bit. I honestly think it's as good as their pre-reunion material.

Wolf is a lot of fun. Black Flame and Legion of Bastards were my favorites... wasn't into their last album really though.

Psychotic Waltz - Mosquito

Heavy, catchy goodness packed into small concise forms. Masterful.

Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason

I feel the Gilmour-led era of PF is underrated. Sure, the albums weren't that conceptualized, but the music is still great. Some may argue that this album reeks of the 80's (implying that it sounds old-fashioned), but I don't consider that a bad thing. Just look at Rush's "Grace Under Pressure", "Power Windows" and "Hold Your Fire" - same thing, yet the music is still great.

Morbid Angel - Invocation of the Continual One

Makes sense to end the album with the longest, and IMO best, song. So of course they tack on three instrumental things after it, which is my only major issue with "Formulas..."

You were attending? A friend of mine told me about this but I didn't want to go.
P.D: Did Sólstafir play songs from the new album?
