Alice Cooper - Poison (live)

I love the backing vocals on the live version.

Soundgarden - Burden In My Hand

If the whole Down on the Upside album is like this, I think I'll end up digging it. Super cathartic, catchy rock.

Marduk - Frontschwein

As much as they're known for relentless blasting, I often find Marduk shines on slower, mid-paced tracks. Case in point: "The Blond Beast" and "Wartheland" from this album. That's not to say the blasting doesn't have standout moments of its own, but the grooves and occasional doom sections are sharply executed and create a nice contrast. Rom 5:12 is where they did this best, though their latest also does a fine job.

Sauron - Lords of Slaughter and Warfare (from Satanic Assassins)

I haven't played this album in a minute! I got hung up on the savagery of the debut for awhile, then the new one dropped and it's a masterpiece. So the middle-child got lost in the shuffle. This is so great. I wasn't giving them enough credit for this album. I was acting as though the new one, Conquest through Attrition, was completely unprecedented in their catalog but this album clearly foreshadows everything they were evolving towards. This song specifically has a ton of traditional and speed metal influence. Lord Ruiz's trademark emotive soloing. And of course the obligatory ripping fast sections. Highly highly recommended, this band's entire discography but specifically the second and third albums.

Queensryche - The Art Of Life

Within the highly controversial slower albums from the mid 90s to early 2010's, this is the one I really like. I think it works better with its deeper lyrics and soulful tone. Probably their most progressive album of the era as well.

Carach Angren - Dance and Laugh Amongst the Rotten

I'm really liking this. "Blood Queen" is in my top 5 favorite songs from this year.

You should definitely check out Maniaxe, that's their best in my opinion. But if you liked Transmission Zero, maybe Splatterthrash would be more up your alley: more experimental stuff, psychobilly and Caribbean-jazz influence. Really interesting record.

Messiah Force - Call from the Night
For fans of Satan's Hallow, holds up extremely well.

Thanks! I'll check some more stuff out, that song just came on Pandora and was pretty cool.

Deeds of Flesh - Portal to Canaan

Surprisingly good stuff, I had written them off years ago as being tick-tocky brutal tech death, but there's a healthy amount of variety here.

John Frum: Stirring in the Noos

Really enjoying this odd death metal. kinda reminds me a bit of flourishing, owl, some parts DsO. overall very interesting and quite a nice find.

Morbid Angel- Invocation of the Continual One

COME! LEVIATHAAAAAAAN!

The fact that this isn't in the Tucker-centric set is a fucking crime. It should be the grand finale.

Hell, it should be the grand finale of Morbid Angel shows period.

Opeth - Ghost of Perdition

Blackwater Park may be Opeth's crowning glory, but Ghost Reveries has many songs and moments that are on that level. This song is absolutely in the top five songs they've ever done.

Blind Guardian - fast and energetic instrumental from 'Follow the Blind'. Would be interesting if they put lyrics on this song though.

Sulphur Aeon - Gateway to the Antisphere

I've heard some death metal in my time, and a lot of Lovecraft-inspired metal at that...but this is just the fucking best. Huge doesn't even begin to describe it. Not as good as the previous album but I'd still use all the good adjectives on it.

Unholy - ...of Tragedy

Glorious.

Unholy are a rather unique entity, with their brand of deathly doom metal. Ethereal, sorrowful, crushing, melancholic and majestically beautiful. Both Gracefallen and Rapture are utterly amazing albums of their own crafting.

That's a good song from said album. Caught me into Unholy back then actually. The first album is my fave, Rapture the second. But all are class.

I actually agree that Marduk are a lot better when they slow things down. Somehow their creation of blackened doom-ish songs are more captivating. Frontschwein is a pretty good album, though.

Portals to Canaan is kind of incredible. Their last two albums have nudged them to the technical death metal group, away from the brutal death they were at first. They're still a very strong group who are more than overdue for a new album.

This one needs more listens from me, but I quite like it, too.

Rapture is my favourite album from Unholy, and I definitely agree with your description!

Logic of Denial - Aftermath

I didn't mind their last one, so let's see how their new album stacks up. I'm sure it's going to be good.

I find that song to be a waste of time. Give me ''Epitaph'' instead.

I could never get into this band.

NP: Drawned in Tears - The Song of Wounded Love

Sounds like these guys were heavily inspired by the Peacevile three bands. This sounds more uplifting and melodic though. I dig it.

Helstar - Vampiro

This rules hard. I don't know why I did not check them out sooner. Same thing with Riot, who I also "discovered" this week, after years of being aware of them but not making any effort to check their stuff.

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

This is one underrated Sabbath song and I friggin' love it. It's such a great opener to the album with catchy melodies with great guitar works and the vocals are well done from The Ozzman.

One album that somehow escaped the review challenge. Starting to like it more than the band's first with a few extra listens.

First listen of this album, and I'm not getting the hype. Sounds like a normal death metal album to me. Maybe it will click after a few more listens.

Excalion - Divergent Falling

I really can't wait for this album - what a killer tune. Gorgeous, triumphant melodies.

Orden Ogan - Fields Of Sorrow

This might be one of their best songs yet. I can't believe how good this actually is... what a tremendous chorus.

Moonsorrow - Ruttolehto incl. Päivättömän päivän kansa

I've been playing this album since I bought it, I'm sure it's been more than 30 times. Am I not afraid of getting tired of it? I am, but I can't help it.

Btw, if you any other albums with the same level of greatness, please do recommend.
